Refinery problem Ts2009

Trainz Commuter
Hi I've searched around here on this forum to see if anyone else have the same issue with the built in refinery, but found nothing.
Everything works fine with it, till you run out of diesel and then it stops producing it anymore. It has not run out of crude oil either, so it should work.
Seems a bit strange as I've had the same problem in trs2006.
Any ideas?

Refineries stop producing for two reasons:

1. Out of Crude or;
2. One of the other distilled fuel tanks is full.

Your situation may be that the Petrol AND/OR Jet Fuel tanks are at their maximum holding capacity. If this is your case, simply have another train to pick up the excesses of the other fuel and the refinery should resume production of all three distillates.

Aha! Thats why. Never thought of that, why didn't they make it so all the fuels can be full at once? Must be quite annoying if you don't have anything petrol consuming in your map. Oh well...

You can set your refinery up to operate any way you want to. But, if you are after a little bit of realism and look around on the web a bit, you will find that a barrel of crude produces different fractions of products within certain limits on each. From what I've been able to find out, the diesel fraction runs normally at 15 - 18 percent and can be jacked up to maybe 22-24 percent.

So, again if you want a little realism, you may want to set a petroleum-related session up with fairly high-capacity gasoline and avgas "docks" where you can dump those commodities in order to get the amount of diesel you need.

Just adds to the challenge!

You can always use a portal. Send a train that will load the unused fuel type and send it to another portal. :)

I had the same problem until I used the seaport refinery and made sure I had an oil tanker moored up there, after that everything is fine.
