Reason for message

i have a single track with 4 flatcars on it and a track end at one end. when trying to get my loco to couple with the flatcars i get a message that reads train is occupying the track. there is no loco on the track just cars and my loco stops and won't go on. this is with or without signals. can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?

In this context the message is refering to the flatcars. You probably need some signals which the locomotive will approach, stop and then proceed to couple to the flatcars.

Made specifically for that problem;

Permissive double head invisible signal,<kuid:522774:100639>
PON_Dwarf_Signal_USA_L02_Permissive,<kuid:522774:100020>
PON_Dwarf_Signal_USA_02_Permissive,<kuid:522774:100021>

Any of those placed as the last signal between the mainline and the yard or spur track will encourage AI trains to couple onto cars.
