Really?

I am the nut of the train
I'm pretty sure my PC is good stuff for Trainz. But recently it's been jumping & stuttering a lot with JointedRail content. Am I stupid to think that it's possible to run JointedRail locos and 75+ JointedRail cars of various shapes and colors, or is that possible? Here's my specs:

Dell XPS 8300 w/Dell ST2220L Monitor (HDMI)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Trainz 12
Intel Core i5-2400 3.10GHz Quad-Core
12GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM
Western Digital SATA 1TB Hard Drive

That should be able to run a buttload of JR stuff, right? Or is it just not possible? Opinions?

Also, thank you JointedRail for making amazing content.

Tried an EDR and a defrag? that often improves problems like stuttering, plus if you are using OpenGL try DirectX, invariably works better.

I run 2,3 or 4 locos up front with 60-130 JR cars/wagons and helpers on the rear. Usually about 10 consists on the session at any given time.
FPS around 20's, just enough to stop the stutters.
System wise similar to yours I think, just older. Quad core extreme @3ghz, 8gb ram + 560gtx ti.

Don't see why it wouldnt be possible.
Yeah, me too! It's good that that's coming from the JointedRail guy himself though.

My system is 2% fragmented and I am using Direct X. Thanks though!

OK, good that it is possible! I get the stutters from running one consist of 3 JR locos and 60 JR cars on the NS Ferry Sub.

Drop the draw distance, have scenery+tree+texture detail set to normal. Juggle these to stop the stutters.
Have you got trainz set to run at your screens native resolution, also set the ATi catalyst thingy to the same.

It makes a difference if you are running with 75 cars the same or 75 cars that are all different. Half a dozen different cars mixed up to 75 should look quite good. Have you downloaded any scenery items recently? A couple of buildings created in sketchup can impact frame rates.
