Re:Trainz Simulator Boxed Edition

Just got the boxed set of Trainz Simulator 12 today but having trouble loading it on my computer. How do you install it on Windows 7?Any suggestions?

So, first logon with an admistrator account. Then I would suggest that you install the program in its own root folder and not in the proposed c:\Program Files (x86)
Trainz needs to both read and write in its folders and Windows 7 will give it a hard time because it considers the c:\Program Files (x86) as special. I found it too much work to set special permissions. It was easier to give it an ordinary folder to work in.

Even if you log in with an administrator account, if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 Home Premium, Trainz must be specifically set to run as administrator. The installer should automatically do this, but the actual program will not do this automatically, so you must set it to.

This is because even administrator accounts in Windows Vista and 7 do not have full read and write permissions to the majority of folders in the system drive (especially Program Files and Program Files (x86).

I have always had Trainz installed onto its own hard drive. No, not a separate partition. I have never had a problem doing it this way.
Could be just lucky as well. :)
