I must say that I don't understand your policy.

With great hope I install new patch, Pavlič says ''that contains a fix for the issue some users were seeing where Trainz would hang indefinitely when saving a route or session'', because I was thinking that this patch (to 44088) solve the problems with layer system. I made the notice 1.8. (August) on helpdesk and show you what's the problems are.
When I'm working on new sessions for Avery and ECML I had the contacts with authors and tell them what mistakes are shown on the routes.

Now we have bad software, routes are not reliable enough, layer system need upgrade and you make the contest. Where is the logic?

We're offering prizemoney for something that we were previously getting for free in order to stimulate the community in a specific direction. I'm not sure at what point that became an evil plan but if you don't like it you're free to sit it out. :-)

kind regards,

chris

Again what's with the prizemoney. When will you cough up the prizes for those who participated in the previous route building competition?

Hi guys,

Just a reminder that there's still a little time left to enter this competition. All you need to do is create a session for one of the TS2010 built-in routes* and upload it to the DLS, and you're in the running for AUS$1000.

Given that we haven't seen a large number of uploads yet, your chances might be better than you think :-)

Chris,

If you would take off the shackles of using only built-in assets, I'd be interested in submitting.

Making the content trivially available to TS2010 users is one of the main goals of the competition. We don't want to end up in a position where a user has to download a large amount of content in order to play the sessions. Given the large content base that is included in TS2010, we don't really see this as an excessive limitation.

If you can make a compelling case for allowing specific types of content from the DLS, I will put your case before the team.

I agree with Dap, but I also understand that some content from the DLS has to be modified to properly work in 2010. This leaves out many interesting pieces of content (especially rolling stock), but also leaves out the need to answer countless threads about "How do I fix the Zipperville & Marshburg Coal Hoppers?" :D :D :D .

Since we are talking about session creation, if an exception can be made for a single category, I suggest to leave the participants free to use driver orders from the DLS, provided they work in 2010 with no errors or warnings.

For example, it would be nice to be able to use the "Couple at trackmark" or "Couple vehicle facing trackmenk" orders. This will avoid the need to specify a single car (which has to be on the map when the session starts) in the orders for IA-controlled trains and add flexibility to the sessions.
