Would the circus train be able to maintain track speed for the NEC?
Unless RB B&B has purchased or otherwise acquired some newer equipment over the past 20 years, I wouldn't want to see their trains doing more than 60.
I'm wondering whether the route from Hampton VA to Providence RI will include the CSX River Line or just the NEC all the way.
Problem with the NEC is that the train would have to run through the Amtrak tunnel and through NYP. Do you think the train would be routed that way?
I would think not, but perhaps during the middle of the night when there aren't many other trains coming and going through there.
The other route would be to take the train off the NEC in Philly, then up CSX and NS to Bound Brook on the Trenton line, then east on the Lehigh to OI, then up the River Line to Selkirk.
From Selkirk, the train could use the east leg of the wye, or just go into the yard and run-around the train and then take it east on the B&A to Worcester, then finally down to Providence that way.
That second route seems like a waste of time and money, since the NEC is a much faster route. Forget getting photos, unless I went down to NYP when the train was going through. I don't think Amtrak would want anyone down on the platform in that situation.
As I recall, in the past (many years ago), the blue train would go north on the River Line and then head east to Boston. But the schedule has changed, so that run is no more.
I recall once driving north on I-87 (New York Thruway) and listening to my scanner. Both the red and the blue trains were in Selkirk at about the same time. I think the red train was coming through from the west, and heading north on D&H track while the blue was coming north on the River Line and heading east to Boston.
I never got to see the red train, but I spent some time chasing the blue unit.
I wonder whether I can get circus trains for Trainz? I seem to recall doing a search on DLS, and not finding anything.
