Railyard

There is no doubt that for some of us, understanding Trainz is a steep learning curve and if one doesn’t start until 2010 where the help files pre-suppose prior knowledge, there is a lot we don’t know. One feature I have trouble understanding is Railyard, so I would like to ask someone about it, and especially its relation to CM and Surveyor.I have tried to structure the following questions so that the person who replies can just number them and put a Yes or No behind them.

1.0 Does Railyard have any practical use other than being just a description of the asset, and a means of seeing what a loco or rolling stock looks like?
2.0 Is it meant to be a complete list of all rolling stock and Locos that you have in your Trainz program?
3.0 Is there a quick way of scrolling through the views without having the black transparent screen come across in front of the asset and restricting the view each time?
4.0 Is there a way of displaying the kuid for the asset being viewed?
5.0 Should all in-built, as well as all later downloaded locos and rolling stock be listed in Railyard?
6,0 When Favorite locos are 'ticked', should these items show up in CM under the tab ‘Favorite Locos?’
7.0 Is it only those ticked as Favorites, or are there others that somehow show up in CM under the tab Favorite Locos?
8.0 There seems to be no correlation between 'Favorites' in Railyard and Favorite Loco's in CM. Should there be?
9.0 If those ticked as Favorites in Railyard are supposed to list under the ‘Favorite loco’ tab in CM, is this where one finds the Kuid?
10.0 When Favorite loco’s are ticked in Railyard do these show up in Surveyor even if they dont show up in CM under Favourite locos Tab?
11.0 In the Surveyor tab menu on the RH side, some of the locos I have installed are not listed when first accessed. Does that menu only display in-built?
12.0 To get added locos to display I have to click on the ‘Content filter’ then ‘Clear’ to bring up these additional locos. Is that normal practice?
13.0 Is there an easier way of having these additional locos permanent in that list instead of having to clear the content filter each time
14.0 Is there a way of enlarging that little tab menu on RH side in surveyor so that the menu and what it contains is expanded or enlarged and more easily readable? 15.0 Is there a ‘Find’ function in Surveyor?
16.0 Does it find on an item name or kuid?
Hopefully these questions are second nature to some of you experts and easily answered but the answers will move my understanding and subsequent use along quite a lot. Make this easy on yourself and just answer Yes or No. I'll work it out from there. If any further info on anything is needed I can come back with a specific question. I would ask please that only those who know ALL the answers reply. Thanks. Cheers

To answer the Q about Railyard I think it is there to eat up space on our HDs.lol..Not to sure but way back when 2003 or 04..there was a thought that we would be able to fix the rolling stock in railyard. but it never came about..we have cmp now..I am not 100% sure if this stament is true...

My answers are my opinions only and only apply for TS2010.
1. Just what you said plus you can test the light and horn.
2. It will list all traincars including locos, subways, rolling stock and anything that can be placed on a track such as airplanes, horse and wagons, boats, some cars and trucks.
3. No.
4. No but you can see the kuids in Surveyor.
5. Yes.
6. No. Favorites in Railyard are all traincars. Favorite Locos in Content Manager are only locos and that have 5 star ratings. If you set CM Search to Location - Local plus Category - Train Vehicle you should get the same list as that displayed in Railyard Favorites.
7. All CM Favorite Locos show up in Railyard Favorites.
8. Answered above
9. Yes.
10. In Surveyor Favorite Locos can be seen by setting the filter to Category - Locomotives plus Rating - 5 Stars.
11. If a loco doesn't show in Surveyor it's bad. Check it in Content Manager for errors or missing dependencies.
12. If you have any select in the filter, the displayed items will be limited. Clearing the filter will allow all items to be displayed.
13. Rate them with 5 stars.
14. No.
15. Surveyor has the Filter function or you can type in an identifier in the box over the picture window of the Trainz pull out on the right.
16. If finds on name.
