rail yards

I found several on the DLS, did a search for "yard". One has a nice little station and all. I forget the creators name, etc.

If you want a flat sorting yard with lots of local industry, my 'McCall Yard' is nothing but yard! Available via my sig.

Also almost anything by Philskene on the DLS...

Andy :)

You don't state how big of a yard you are looking for, i.e. massive classification yard or small compact yard.
I'm hoping to spark some ones memory on this, but years ago Model Railroader published a small compact yard that worked well for operation, ease of use and easy to build. It was designed for a single track route, had a passing/siding track, about 6 to 8 yard tracks with two of those being stub ended and an engine faculty with turn table at one end of the yard next to the switching lead. I thought at one time there was a route in trainz of just this yard.
Anyone know of this yard or remember the Model Railroad article?

Hello marygfaile,

One that I like is "Central Valley V1" by the creator leeferr. It has nice industries, including steel mills, but it is very heavy on the computer unless you have a very strong one. (Or don't put in all the scenery)...

Leeferr also has a simpler "Matlin Hump Yard Revised" and an even simpler "Matlin Hump Yard". These will be under 2004, not 2006 ...but I'll bet money that they will work in 2006!

So that's a few I know of... PS, you have to learn somewhere about how to use that "hump yard" feature (of letting the cars roll into each other). I have used it, but I do it in a simplistic way, (probably wrong) but you do not have to use that feature...

Good luck! Bob P.

Also, Leeferr has a "session" for " Matlin Hump Yard Revised" (look up his username in Sessions, and 2004. But you have to download a pile of rolling stock!) Bye!
