rail guns

During the recent many TV programmes about then 90th anniversary of the end of the 1st World War - there were quite a lot of film clips showing rail mounted guns.
Does anyone know if any have ever been produced for Trainz?? The larger the better.
Is anyone ever likely to make one??

I did some searching, and unfortunately it doesn't seem any rail guns exist for Trainz, at least on the download station.

A rail gun could certainly be made for trainz, but don't expect it to be able to discharge bullets.

I made three different rail mounted guns each in two versions (setup for firing and setup for transport).
1. 16 inch US Howitzer kuid2:210518:7008:1 and kuid2:210518:7012:1
2. 14 inch US Model E kuid2:210518:7002:2 and kuid2:210518:7011:1
3. 15 inch German SKL45 kuid2:210518:7019:1 and kuid2:210518:7020:1

In each case the first number is for transport - the second for firing.

I also made six different support cars. Do a DLS search for USN.

Finally I have data to make several others (one of these eons).

Ben

EDIT: (a few minutes later): There is also a 9.2 inch one (Brittish protptype I think) made by someone else. A DLS search for 9.2 in should turn it up (I hope).

Rail Guns

There is also a collection of M1 Abrahms, and other WWI & WWII tanks with one firing, but the animation and sound are goofy, as it is not drivable, and its moving under its own in a random pattern while firing shells.

Thanks for that. I found the German rail gun - looks good.
Searching on USN didn't produce anything rail gun related.
I also tried searching on the kuid's you listed - but I couldn't find anything either - maybe I am doing it wrong
You should have a go at the monster rail guns - they seemed to have about 16 or more axles per gun carriage - should be great fun round a tight curve!!

Using USN as a title turned up the 6 support cars. Using USN as a description turned up the 14 in Model E gun. All are TRS2004 so make certain you have that checked prior to initiating the search. Try 16 in US Howitzer for that one. There are items made by others as well.

I have info on several with lots-n-lots more wheels, lol. A German one with 18 axles and a US one with 20. They are made with 4 bogeys and must be assembled in surveyor like my hi-capy flats (instructions are included).

I also have info on a German one and a US one with 6 axle bogeys (long wheelbase too). Must have had some lateral motion built into the end wheel sets.

Let me know if you still can't find everything.

Thanks for the message. I found the gun [ I hope the snoopers in the Pentagon, or wherever, arn't monitoring this message for key words that they don't like!]. I was looking in the title not the description. Like it very much. I am have to develop a military installation to house the thing - should be fun - totally out of keeping with the rest of the layout - but I don't care.
I tried searching for the kuids that you listed but maybe I was doing that wrong as well as I didn't turn anything up. May have another go later.
I would very much like to get a copy of your ones with multi axles

Try deleting the initial 2: (like kuid:210518:7008:1).

Your thread has tweaked my interest so I think I'll make another one soon. Most likely a 14 inch US Navy (circa 1919) rail mounted gun with four 10 wheel bogeys (enough wheels for ya, lol)?

Paulz Tankz for Trainz and T34vsTiger

As a new venture, Paulz Trainz has created a new website, Paulz Tankz. This has the purpose of adding AFV models to several simulators, Trainz from Auran and also T34vTiger also from Auran, a great game that has a lot of potential.

As the models are created, they will be made available to both these sims, driveable, animated as well as static scenery items, and as loads for some of my WWII train wagons.

I have completed 4 models so far, some you can see on Paulz Tankz

http://www.paulztankz.myenet.info/

And yes we all have to be politically correct, so no emblems etc are shown on models for display (although they are when in game)

Thanks for the kuid klue - no wonder I have been having problems in the past.
Good look with the latest rail gun - I will be very interested to see it. 4x10 wheel bogies - yeh! bring it on!!
I now have guns all over the place - makes life much more interesting
Regards
Tony

I think I'll also make a smaller one (8 inch US circa 1918 but it only has one 4-wheel bogey at each end (sorry, lol).

If you loke lotsa wheels, one of my hi-capy flats has sixteen 6-wheel bogeys. (utterly silly of course but it was fun to make). There is also a great Schnabel car on the DLS with lotsa wheels.

Barn700 are you aware that your signature file is oversize in height and kb? As your site seems to be 100% commercial, your sig is really an ad. As such, I'd really appreciate it if you could reduce it to conform with Trainz Forums Code of Conduct and give people like myself with slow servers half a chance of enjoying these forums. Thanks in advance.

There Hohnk

I had a false infingement way back in 2006, that was reversed, but on checking yes its bigger than the allowed, so have resized it just for you. Auran must have reduced their allowance at some time, as way back in 2004 it was OK. I need a new one anyway.

May I suggest switching off the pictures in your explorer, or ignoring me, that way you will load your comms less.

I only have 56k (we are a backward nation in this area) so I have problems too, especially screenshot posts and people who insist they must repeat large pictures in their posts.

Hi barn700. Thanks for your understanding. I and others also concerned about oversize sig pictures can't turn them off because we would also lose the text links to many valuable sites (yours included). As I'm creating a new site (link in my sig) I must follow every lead. This I can't do with the sig pics switched off. I appreciate your help.

Regards, John
