Question on cmtm3 and Tane

Probably more for Dap but if anyone knows, id sure appreciate it.

In TS12 I put a lot of hours into CMTM3. building tables, troubleshooting and especially driving. Mostly Cattaraugus Creek.

However it doesn't seem to work well in Tane (newest version). The system loads without error, and for the most part the daialy operations work. However I cannot get a successful portal emit without the red bug and no records added. OR the train emerges and goes running blind. (red bug as its trying to get records)

I've tried emitting only known cmtm boxcars so as to eliminate drivers / loco's but to no avail.

anyone else experience this and have any success?

Try CMTM4, I converted the Long Island Western to CMTM4 and the route will emit trains with only the "numberit" timeout error.

With CMTM3 the trains would emit without records for the cars on the next day, the next day works for CMTM4.

Cattatraugus times out in TANE even with CMTM4.

Hi Harold,
What is needed to convert LIW to CMTM4? I have had no luck so far. I downloaded all the necessary files, included the CMTM4 rules and that stopped the incoming train from being untouchable. But the ECS still doesn't show car info.
Cheers,
Mike

Changed the portals to CMTM4, moved the extensions data to the CMTM4 html and added the CMTM4 rule.

EDIT: And DELETED the CMTM3 session

I got it running thank you Harold.
Could not work out how to make a new session, so ran the old one.
Works ok so far on first day, just a few number-it red bugs at the start then ok. They don't affect the game though.
Cheers,
Mike

The Number-it issue is easy to fix.

Open up the offending asset for editing and reduce the maximum number in the Number-it container in the config.txt to something more reasonable. Seriously there are some assets with a range of nearly 1000 numbers. Reducing this to something like 50 works fine and gets rid of the error.

Having too much fun running Long Island Western to worry about spending hours changing config.txt files.

It only happens when a train enters and just a few clicks eliminates the problem.

I know what you mean. I've looked at that route in the past and it's quite nice. It sure is a gem worth playing with.

Eventually the red bugs with an unrelated route got the better of me so I investigated the Number-it issue, which turned out to be pretty easy to fix. I also found one with a totally bogus number value where the number was not even in the range and lower than the starting value, so it was worth investigating.

I found that out about the numbers problem and clicked it away.
I was really pleased to get this running again, been trying for a long time.
Thanks for the info John.
So, once again, thanks Harold for your sage advice.
Cheers,
Mike

Question here, RE:Number-it Container, is this only associated with ARN Assets or is that all cars?

The reason I am asking, is I'm not using cmtm at the moment, but if I do, I would want my car numbers already 1-50 range as you suggested or is this something I should not be concerned about?

I have heard that Cars with high number limits can cause problems with inventory and other issues as far as Trainz doing calc operations in background for certain events when driving consists etc?

My reasoning is this, based on what I see in differences between TS-12 and TANE IO system, the timing has been cut back for better performance, so it would seem prudent to marginalize the load for background operations to limit those more potential pesky Time Out errors. And I use T:ANE only by preference. I'm trying to optimize TANE wherever I can. Hope this makes sense?

Your welcome, Mike

Shame Cattaraugus doesn't work in TANE.

Still open up TS12 to continue my journey there, TS12 wasn't a very good game.

Have Long Island Western on a separate offline install of TANE, probably will never update that install unless TANE has Raildriver support.

CMTM is the greatest thing in train-sims, too bad most people aren't into operating a railroad.

<kuid2:439008:100201:1> Fairmont and Kelly Shortline MP Route CMTMS4 has multi-player CMTM session that can be converted to single player which is fun.

The route doesn't have scenery yet but a little bit of work looks pretty good.

Just CL5 texture and a ballast strip matching elsoko's procedural track.

Fun little route!

Hi Blue,

It actually only has to do with the cars that use that Number-it container as far as I can tell, that is, I haven't run into anything with the old ARN yet so maybe I've been lucky in that respect.

Yes this is true. The program is inventorying and checking a huge table internally so it can create, on the fly, one of the cars in that huge range of numbers. This can impact all kinds of things as you said, and it's not just the Number-it script. I've seen this with commodities as well, which I need to investigate when I have a chance. It's most likely the same deal if the CC had placed a huge number of assets in the products container.

Your observations are spot on. With shorter waiting times on scripts, it increases the performance overall, however, we're running into a transition now with older stuff which didn't take into account limitations because TS12 didn't complain though it should. This is why TS12 got so clunky and choppy. With T:ANE we get the timeout errors because it's saying wait a minute. There's too much stuff here for me to handle at once!

I downloaded Fairmont and Kelly after you mentioned it Harold. A great little route.
Was a long hard days work on the first day. Enjoyed it very much.
Cheers,
Mike

Do I go into the Config.txt to change the Number Range? Thanks

:D Thank you Sir, You absolutely made my day today!.....Just to confirm here? I need to go into the Config Text on each car and check the Number Range in that Config.Txt, then change and safe it?

Have a great day Sir.

That's right. Simple enough to do; just a lot of them to fix.

Hi guys, hate to revive an old thread but I'm having the red bug issue when a train is emitted from a portal. I'm running cmtm4 in trainz 19. Records are assigned to cars already on the route no problem but any train that is emitted goes crazy and I can't click on it or anything.

Thanks in advance.
