Question about Lumbermills

Hello everyone,

I am new here, first time post. I am using 2009 world builders edition.

I'm playing with surveyor trying to figure it out. I'm doing a logging scene using narrow gauge track. I've made the hills and put in the track. At the bottom I have a lumber mill.

Ok, my issue is that I want the logs to be brought in with the narrow gauge, but the product taken away with standard track. There isn't a problem with the "lumber" side, I can hook the track up with no issue. The wood chips are on the same side as the logs drop off, so when I attach the narrow track, I would not be able to get at the wood chips with the standard track. Is there a way to make this work?

If not is there a way to change over the track into another type without deleting each segment of track?

Thanks for your help!

James

You don't say which lumbermill you're using (kuid number?) but if you're going to modify it you'll need to clone it first. Then open the cloned kuid for Edit in Explorer and change the track kuid in the appropiate attached-track container.
If you don't understand the above then post the lumber mill kuid number and we'll help you.

To mod or not to mod

James, Sounds like your using the standard built-in Lumbermill, To answer your question, No there isn't a way to have different tracks for log drop off and wood chip pick up, your only option is to try using dual gauge track (there's a few of them on the DLS).

I do have the original meshes for this industry (they came on a set of CDs I bought from Auran in 2004), But although I could probably alter it, I have no idea how to set it up as an industry or whether I'd be allowed to upload it to the DLS with that small a modification as Auran have a rule that things have to be modified by a certain amount to be allowed to be uploaded (60-70% I think)

Perhaps if one of the Auran team see this they can clairify this and if they give it a go ahead I'll try modifing it for you.

You could always attach invisible track to the lumbermill's track. This will make them invisible. Then what you do is place protolars track from trainzproroutes where you want the unloading and loading places to be, set them up, and attatch the normal track to that. I do it all the time.
