quarter screen view

Hi I've only just got trainz 2010 for christmas having had fun with a very cheaply bought copy of 04. Though after a few minutes of trying it out, looking at new models etc the screen went black then came back with only a quarter screen view and i have not been on the game for anywhere near ten minutes without this happening again. I have tried various things including trying to download updates however it comes up with "server full".

Any help and advice would be much appreciated as i would love to start playing as soon as possible thanx.

what "build" number shows on the opening screen?

How have you installed, from disc or by download?

Are your video drivers and direct x fully up to date?

Did you disable any anti virus program while you installed?

In Win 7 you need to run as administrator.

Sounds like a faulty install, you probably need to un-install (with windows add/remove) and start again.

You could try switching from direct x to open gl in the options menu.

Hmm, maybe this helps. Presumably you've set your screen resolution in the options entry of the splash screen at trainz startup. This setting however will not allways be set in a file callled trainzoptions.txt too. To fix this go to your trainz installation folder and open this file with notepad. In there change the height and width entries to your screen resolution and save.

As for the server issues, that seems to be flacky at the moment and isn't a problem at your end of the line.:hehe:

thanx for pointing me in the right direction screen resolution was not as it should be and adjusting this seems to have solved the problem however it now says i need updates could anyone please advise me on the best way to go about this do i need every single one or just some of the most recent ? thanks again and best wishes to all for 2011 from slush covered england.

You need to ensure you have all updates for the versio you hve, some bugs get fixed in later updates.

Same with video drivers, make sure you have the latest installed.
