PROBLEMS WITH SIGNALS

I have a problem with my signals. When I place a signal before a junction with no lever it shows green and says 'line ahead is clear', but when I place a lever at the same junction with the same signal still in place it shows red and says 'no train approching'. I'm a little confused, am I doing something wrong?

No
If a train comes, it should go green when it says 'no train approaching' in driver

First, you should not have a junction without a lever, the train will not pass the junction even if the signal is green.
If there is no train approaching the signals default to red except when there is a fault on the line. With a fault like a missing lever the signal is not working as it should.

Thanks Jamie, it does go green when there is a train in front of it.
I would agree with Bill69, a junction with no lever is not really a junction. In Driver you will get an error message "Junction is missing lever" and the train will not pass that point. The signal is effectively on a piece of straight track.
Just my opinion, I may not be 100% correct.
Mick Berg.
