problems with content

Past few weeks I've been having issues with the content manager of my trainz22 downloads. When i would want to download a item it would give me multiple connection interruptions in the download window, I have good internet and everything else runs fine connection wise. I've restarted my internet, i have rebuilt the database, I also have a active first class ticket status. I have never had this issues of all the years I've been playing and I pay yearly for trainz+ also this update didn't make a difference to my issue, thank you

I have logged in and out of the trainz account with my FCT. I've restarted my internet modem and router. I have also ran as administrator but no luck. This was happing pre and post update

it would give me multiple connection interruptions in the download window

There are some well documented causes of this issue, all of them external to Trainz - or at least I have not yet come across an example that was due to any configuration setting within Trainz.

In no particular order:-
  • check that trs22.exe has been added to your antivirus' real time exclusion list. That stops your AV from trying to do a full scan of Trainz each time a download starts
  • disable your VPN to see if that makes a difference - some of them will disrupt the connection
  • you are in the US, have your recently switched your ISP to T Mobile? T Mobile will block the file transfer.

i have spectrum , and ill try those other 2 but i dont know how to get to the trs22.exe file to check

but i dont know how to get to the trs22.exe file to check
I am guessing that you mean stopping the AV program from blocking the transfer?

The exact instructions will depend on your AV program.

The trs22.exe file is located, in my install at least, in the folder at C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022.

I have McAfee as my AV program. Its instructions are:
  1. Open your McAfee app.
  2. On the left menu, click the My Protection tab.
  3. Under Device, click Real-Time Scanning.
  4. Under Excluded Files, click Add file.
  5. Browse your computer and select the file you want to exclude from scanning.
  6. Repeat these steps to exclude multiple files.
After making these changes, the selected files are not scanned by your McAfee software.

Pretty sure i dont have a AV on computer just whats built in to the pc , but i dont have the vpn active and i did remove the trs22 file off the firewall thing and it still does the same. I don't know what to do anymore. ive tried everything from what the developers told me and forums.

Have you tried this....

Windows Computers
    • Click the Start button, type Windows Security, and open the app.
    • Click on Virus & threat protection.
    • Look at the active provider or click Manage providers to see all running antivirus programs.
    • Alternatively, look for a program icon in the bottom-right corner of your taskbar next to the clock.

Talk to Spectrum. They maybe blocking a port required for data downloads. This could've occurred during a router update or something else at their end.
just talked to spectrum and they said they don't block any ports or anything just certain websites and if so the site would say spectrum blocked access to this. At this point i dont know anymore. Unless ive got to much content downloaded

If that's what they are saying, then it's something on your end. Have you had any severe storms recently that could have impacted your service? We are on a broadband connection here and after some really high winds, we had awful stutters and data dropouts causing Trainz + for me have problems downloading. We called Xfinity and they checked our line on the pole and replaced the cable from the poll to the house.

If you only use Wifi, then there could be something degrading the signal causing the data to dropout. Regular service, such as using the internet for instance works fine. When the connection is put under load, this can cause interruptions due to the large amount of data not being able to move through the connection. When wireless connections, like any connection become overloaded, the service will slowdown causing timeouts.

Downloading "too much content" doesn't cause timeouts. What you can try is downloading one or two assets at a time. It could be that your connection can't keep up with all the data at once due to the issue mentioned above.

One possible test that I would suggest but it would require that you are using a laptop with Trainz Installed. If that is the case then take the laptop away from your house to a location, such as a mall or cafe, that offers free wifi and try a simple download from there. If it works then the problem is somewhere in your home connection.

I have heard of one other Trainz user who has to take her/his laptop to a place with free wifi to get DLS/DLC assets.
