Suddenly my 2006 runs at slide show pace. It was working perfect for a long time but now it runs at 2-3fps. I can't use it it runs so slow. Today I uninstalled and reinstalled program and service pack but no change. Everything else on my computer works same as always. Suggestions please!!!

System-- Gateway FX400 Intel (R) Pentium D CPU 2.80 GHZ 512 ram 84% free space
Nvidea 6200 turbo cache 93.71 drivers Windows xp pro media center edition version2002 service pack 2

I would use Widows Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) and click on CPU twice to determin what program is using up my CPU cycles. Nearly all of it should be going to TRS2006.
If that didn't help, I would double click on Mem Usage. As I recall, with 512meg, at least 200meg should be going to TRS2006.

sounds like a windows rebuild is on the cards....

Or you might want to look at your Gfx card as that sounds like it might be overheating and slowing down to save itself...

Good point Harry.

And with global warming  situations like this will become more common.

Opps, I forgot.:o We are not suposed to discuss religion. ;)

I just installed trainz 2004 and it runs fine. 2006 still just crawls. It is default now as I have not installed or downloaded anything for it. You think it would do any good to go through the uninstall and install routine again? It definitely is not a overheating problem. I have a program that checks temperatures and it's all normal.

Also, I am sorry but I didn't get your joke superfud. I am so frustrated at this problem I am not thinking funny right now.

Your not the only one who didn't get the joke and im in jovial mood atm.:D

It sounds like their is something else running in the background that is using up CPU. What else do you have running? Installed any new software recently?

That video card, Nvidea 6200 turbo cache, is not real good to start with, surprise TRS doesn't run 2-3 fps all the time anyway, it uses system memory to compensate for video memory.

Check to see what you have running in the background, also check fans and make sure they are working.

The only program I have installed recently is trs2004 after I had the problem with 2006 and IT is working great. Fans are working okay. This is a fairly new computer and it has oversize fans in it. Temp reamains constant. I run microsoft flight sim fsx on this comp at about 20-25fps

I am surprised that you think this card should not run trainz well. Before I had the problem I was running good fps. I DO admit that it slowed a lot in congested circumstance. I never have made complicated routes because of that.
In order to buy a better card I need to be able to justify it to my wife which is hard to do sometimes (as some of you well know)!! I bet.
