Alright, with decapod's permission, I reskinned his P Class into 323 Bluebvell, but as this picture shows, somehow, it all went wrong:

Can someone please help me figure out what went wrong?

Did you check in Content Manager for errors or warnings. Also make sure that the textures that you are using are uncompressed.

Yes, there were errors, and here they are:

Error: Unable to load alpha texture 'secr27_shadow/j94b-monk.tga' for texture file 'secr27_shadow/black.texture.txt'.
Error: The primary and alpha texture are not the same size for 'secr27_shadow/black.texture.txt'
Error: Binary conversion failed for texture resource 'secr27_shadow/black.texture.txt'.

Do you know what they mean?

As for textures uncompressed, what does that mean?

To save a file as uncompressed, you need use the settings in your file editor. Gimp for example has a setting for saving TGA files uncompressed. You need to check that box first before saving the file.

Each of these errors, by the way, are related to the one file being compressed.

What box do I check? I'm asking because I can't find any.

What image editor are you using and what file format are you using for your textures? If you are using TGA files then when you save them in the image editor you will see a tick box in the save diaogue box that needs to be ticked (or unticked dependant on editting software you are using) to make sure that you save the images as uncompressed tga's. If you are saving them as Bitmaps (*.bmp) then you wont have the option to save them as compressed images.

Before you worry about compressed/un-compressed textures check the size of the file 'secr27_shadow/black.texture.txt' for both the primary image and the alpha. These both need to be the same size, so if your primary image is saved to a size of 512x512 pixels then the alpha also needs to be 512x512 pixels.

If you are still struggling let me kinow and I will PM you with my e-mail address and you can send the loco over as a cdp file for me to take a look for you

Well, I'm using TGA converter to convert the files to Bitmaps, GIMP to paint them, then TGA to convert back to TGA files.

As for the shadow, it turns out that the alpha is J94B-MONK.TGA. Can you please tell me what that means?

When you convert the images back to TGA pay attention to the process to make sure that there is no mention of the image being compressed when you save it as a *.tga file. As for J94B-MONK.TGA this is just the shadow file for the loco which happens to be the shadow file used for decapod's J94 Saddle tank. The first error that you are getting is likely to be caused by the fact that J94B_MONK.TGA has become compressed while being saved. The second and third errors could be that you have saved J94B-MONK.TGA to a size different to that of its alpha as per my previous post.

The offer of me looking at your reskin for you still stands if you need help

Andy

Jon,

Obviously I have got all of the CDPs that you have sent and am just about finished but thought that I would put an update here for you. The loco you are reskinning was created for earlier versions of Trainz that were more forgiving that current builds. There are a few errors to be fixed but your main problem was with the way you created the 'new' images. By taking them to bitmaps you will end up with a black fill on areas where there should be no colour. This image is one of yours

and this is what you needed it to be

The grey squares are essentially where nothing exists

Should be able to send the finished model back to you soon.

Oh. Thanks for letting me know. Think I'll be able to release it afterwards?

Jon,

Whether or not you can release it will be up to decapod since its his original asset. Here she is in all her reskinned glory !

I hope that this is what you were looking to achieve. A cdp fill be on its way back to you shortly

Oh, I see.

And yes, that is what I'm looking for!!!:D Thank you!!

Jon,

I have just sent the cdp file back to you but it is quite large. If it doesn't arrive just let me know and I will send the files separately

I got them, and thanks for helping out. By the way, is it possible to edit the files? I'm asking because I would like to fill in the unpainted areas.
