problem with edit in explorer

MisterChugg,

I think Shane... is correct (AFAIK there was no .Net vers 3.1).

I don't know where you tried to get the update from but I would go here:

http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us

- this page will check if you have the installer and if not it will install it, once that is done I think you will have to click on the "Custom" button ("Express" only download high priority updates).

You will then get a list of availble updates - just pick the .Net one(s).

The link I posted was to the Microsoft Download Centre, but it is quicker (as itareus said) to use Microsoft Update/Windows Update (some systems only run Windows update not Microsoft update but the process is the same) - there may be a later version of Windows Installer shown, but it should still operate as such (It is also quicker to install the .NET framework using the update system as well as it may be possible to install it without any further input).

There will probably be other updates mentioned, but as itareus said, you will only need the .NET updates

(note: you may have to restart your system after installing the windows installer 3.1 update)

hi mates

the pc that has trainz on it will never be connected to the net.

i use a small pc just to read emails and do things that i need for the net.

i went to the microsoft site and found WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86 which it said was that 3.1 thing that i needed.
i uninstalled the 3.5 one and then after restarting i installed this and the 3.5
it took this time but unfortunalty i can still not get into the edit part

i deleted the tdx file and also the backup tdxfile and let it be rebuilt

still no luck

a fellow trainzer sent me a pm that i should make a shortcut icon to the edit folder on my desktop

if all else fails i may have to do this,
even though it would be slowwer

thanks for all the help
it is greatly appreciated

cheers

There is no need to delete Assets.tdx or bku from TS2009 on. Extended Database Repair does that for you.

Check that both files are there as sometimes I have noticed it will stall if one of them is missing.

hi jananton

ctrl-shift-c opens ccp
but when i try to rename the user file it saves it but does not change the name in cmp
ron

Hmm, after saving in the ccp and closing it, you need to commit (ctrl-m) the edited asset to let the username change in the cmp.

I've no idea why the windows explorer doesn't open with ctrl-shift-e though, never had a problem with that option.

Greetings from rainy Amsterdam,

Jan
