Problem loading cut lumber

I seem to have a issue with loading cut lumber at the mill I've set up. I'm in the cut lumber siding with a line of flatbeds. What else do I need to do? I had a similar problem when I pulled a train into the oil refinery depot with a line of tank cars. Thanks for any help. I'll get a handle on this game one of these days.

Did you put the "load" command in the Drivers orders.

A couple of questions:

Are you driving the train or is it AI?

Do you know how to configure industries to produce and consume products and rolling stock to load and unload products?

I'm driving the train. I haven't quite got the hang of drivers orders and configuring industries yet.

Driving the train makes it a whole lot easier.

That could be your main problem.
