John Whelan has posted regarding checking your PC's power supply, I
simply want to bring this issue to the front.
I have upgraded 2 older computers and never gave the wattage of the power units consideration.
After hours of perfect operation I began to recieve flickering of the monitor, speakers cutting in and out, etc.. After hours of trouble shooting I headed to the computer shop, upgrading the power unit was the simple fix (something I would never have thought of). It appears they don't go bad and quit, simply cannot keep up with the power demands of extra fans and other power draws.
I have replaced the second computer with a larger power unit and again everything is OK. They are inexpensive, I purchased two 450 watt units used for less than $100us, a little difficult to exchange (due to room in the case) .
Hope this saves someone some frustration, ---DLR
