Possible new computer in very near future

Ugh, I'm sorry man, I feel for ya, I really do. I did see something about the DeLorean restoration fairly recently. It's sweet for nostalgic value - hey, the 80s are coming back - but $60,000 is nuts. I would spend that on a boat (but I didn't! lol) or a plane, though...guess I have a couple expensive tastes too...

Well it isn't a "restore" it is a NEW Delorean built from the original spare parts that were all shipped over after the bankruptcy. Of course they have upgraded the engine and it has new upgraded electronics such as sat radio and gps...

You can buy restores from them but the 60k is for NEW...

I guess for new that isn't the worst price then, though I can't think of any car I would drop 60k on...

Maybe a modern APC, but that's not very realistic now, is it? :hehe:

If I was just filty rich maybe a Pagani Zonda, or Mercedes SL65 AMG

I can DREAM of the perfect grocery getter....

Yeah, like one that would go in to the grocery store, pick up all of your groceries, go through the check-out, and then return and load the car for you, and then put every thing where it goes in the refridgerator, cupboard, etc. That kind of "grocery getter" sure would sure make getting the groceries a lot less dreadful and a lot easier!

Regards.

Well gimme a Zonda and prepaid gas card and I would gladly drive to Phoenix everyday to buy some groceries :D

I don't think that drive would EVER get boring...

I agree with you mrscsi on the Dells. They are really trying hard to take themselves above the mainstream with their current computers. This XPS is almost workstation-class except for the video card, which is aimed more at the gamers.

Those hardware forums can be both a blessing and a curse. I found that many of the people up there are way into themselves and one-upping everyone else out there with their machine specifications. Really who cares whose nads are bigger than the other guys. Does the computer run well, and is the hardware reliable?

I'm not into overclocking very expensive parts and then going out and buying more when I fry them. That was the gist I got of many of the hardware forum mentioned in the above post.

I remember the Delorean very well. A neighbor had one when they first came out. Cool looking cars. It's too bad the company didn't survive.

For 60k though, I'd rather buy a rebuilt 1920s Steinway Model B grand piano instead of a car. When my ex-manager purchased a Mercedes C-class, I said that and his jaw dropped. The Steinway will hold it's value a lot longer than any car no matter what model it is.

Looks good. Just wondering, why did you go with a dual-channel memory configuration instead of triple-channel? And I'm not going to about the raided SSDs, lol, but let us know how that runs; I run a creaky old 7200 Seagate.

Nice setup, and since the Intel P67 chipset uses a dual channel memory configuration (not triple channel like the X58 chipset) it’s properly configured, nice to see someone does their homework, lol.

Lol. Good to know, you learn something every day. Seems strange that the IMC can support 3 but the chipset only 2. Also good to know he won't have to Photoshop any of his performance results, like certain "hardcore" users here have been known to do, lol.

Oh yeah he’ll have learn not resize any screen shots cause the brain wiz’s here think that’s “Photoshoping”, duh, lol.

In other forums the members are intelligent enough to know that an X975 or a 980X is capable of that kind of performance.

Yeah, it helps not to get caught by two people doctoring their results and calling it "Screen resizing." lol. I still laugh at that one...how can anyone who is supposedly an "expert" do that...lol. Crap, even a lot of nearly-computer-illiterates know about metadata. Hilarious! :D :D :D :D

Actually, the funniest part about the Photoshop-doctoring incident (and also the one that demonstrates that said individual was doing just that) was said individual promptly took down the Photoshopped pictures, stripped out the EXIF data, and reposted them - but not before I captured the originals.

lol, this is more fun than the comedy club I went to a few weeks ago, and cheaper too!

For any interested parties, this was recently reposed in a thread called Look at this Dell Computer or similar, around the middle of the thread, IIRC.

The screenshots in your first link are not the ones in question and you know it. They are also not the ones that have been changed/changed back/removed.

I just know you've been clicking Reload every five seconds waiting for a reply for me...sorry for the wait! Well actually I'm not, lol.

They aren't? It's from the same thread back in July when you argued with me the first time.

Actually I just clicked back from answering someone with a hardware question at Train-sim.com, don't flatter yourself, lol.

I'll tell you what I'll be happy to take some new screens with the same system and put them up on your host of choice or better yet give them to a mod to put up here, but what are you going to say when they show the same performance?

What will be the excuse this time?

So is that all you do? Troll the various forums feeding people a bunch of BS they don't need, and pretending you know everything about everything?

Troll? Why don't you ask over at Train-sim.com if you think it's trolling. While your at it ask if my information is all B.S. also.

I've given some links in this thread to people who are well known in the train sim community, ask them if my information is B.S.
