Portals and AI driver commands

Is there a tutorial anywhere on configuring AI commands for portals? I'm just starting to experiment with them, and while I can generate AI trains from the portal they just sit there waiting for me to send them somewhere.

What I'm trying to do is have the portal spawn trains which will automatically go somewhere and do something. The manual just says it can be done, with no details on how to do it. Searches here find so many portal-related threads as to be useless.

Thanks.

To give the drivers commands you could use the schedule library and copy commands from rule.

I would take a look at Quick Portal Manager v3,<kuid2:61392:5012:21> if I were you. You can do all sorts of things with AI trains from portals using this command.

I click the ? mark in surveyor, on the right side there is a house, click it then click the ? then click the portal. You can now add trains and commands.

Also try making your own consits or train sets then press the ? on the trainz tab and it will ask you to name your new train set then you can add your own custom trainz to the portals.

Hi, If you mean how to give your drivers a command, click on the small circle with a green arrow at the bottom left of the command line and a list of available commands will pop up.

Yeah, that part I can do. I just needed to know how to configure AI driver commands.

Add the schedule library to the route via main menu, edit session. Select add and scroll down to find the library, add it.
You now need to add the driver command "copy commands from".
Once added open the schedule library, you can put in all the commands needed for a specific task, name it. Repeat this as many times as you want.
Go back to the portal and give the driver the command "copy commands from library" "coal run" or whatever you'd like that consist to do.
You also need to add the "consist data handler rule".

Also you may need to add in a Wait... command just before the copy command. For some reason the AI get confused sometimes, which is an understatement, if they jump right into the schedule.

In summary adding driver commands in a portal is no different than adding them for the rest of the drivers in the session.
