Not really into passenger trains either, but I suppose I'll have to hunt up some suitable coaches for these. Being a freight kinda guy I'll probably reclone one of these and reskin it rusty dusty greasy oily for a freight helper engine. :cool:

All these work in TRS2010 on my system, for some reason when I tweaked the geeps to work in 2010 they'll no longer work in 2004. Any problems don't be shy about hollering, I'm not the sensitive artiste type and I got skin thicker than a rhinoceros. :wave:
 
Cabviewz!

Almost forgot, custom cabviews with the road switchers, so you don't see something weird like a BNSF hood when you look out the back window of a PO&N GP9. :eek:

Look for PON Gen_sd requires 2009 or better.
And Justin was kind enough to make a short hood forward version of his Norfolk Southern long hood forward cabview (which I promptly cloned and vandalized);

PON high-hood interior SHF requires 2004 or better.

Anyone wants to clone these for other engines feel free, all you need to do is repaint bonnet.tga to change what you see out the back window.
 
At last, some P.O. & N. Iron. Almost makes me want to try my hand at reskinning again. (I said almost:hehe:.)

Hysterical or historical?

Wasn't me, the culprits were Freddie "Splatter" Huff and Kevin "Cadman" Shea. Dunno if they're still active, but I did notice they're members here.

Back in 2001 I started playing with the MSTS route editor, made a fictional route based on the Port Ogden & Northern model railroad route. Doing a lot of experimenting, I ended up with a twisty curvy going around in circles expansion, many people made the comment that the PO&N "don't know whether it's coming or going". :hehe: There were only a few repaints in those days, all of them for real railroads, and Splatter got the idea to do a fictional repaint for the PO&N.

First repaint with the CatDog logo, uploaded by Cadman in 2001. :cool: Phil Skene "went over to the Dark Side" long ago, asked for and received permission to do a PO&N route for Trainz, so when I got here last month (after wasting two years on a birdwatching simulator that was trying to be a trainsim and never made it) I found the PO&N route already made, but no reskins. Working on rectifying that situation now, as well as some skins and new logos for Phil's other routes.

Back on topic, nobody having trouble with the downloads yet? Can't fix it if I don't know it's broke!

Guess I shoulda read the rules (sorry, "rulez") more carefully instead of just skimming them, limited to 800x600 screenshots (sorry, "screenshotz" one of theze dayz I'll learn to talk like the trainz guyz) so they moved this from announcements to here. Live and learn.

Getting senile in my old age, I coulda sworn Phil built the Trainz version of PO&N six or seven years ago, apparently it was only two years.

Sorry. what were we talking about, was it alzheimers? :sleep: Anyway, Alco S4s are uploaded and waiting for approval, also included a custom cab cloned from the default SW cab, moved the viewpoint over so you can actually see out of it. :confused:

Cab is listed as Trainz SP3, but it was created and tested in 2010. It should download automatically with the S4s anyway.
 
Dunno, I'm a clueless newby when it comes to Trainz. Probably missing dependencies, I've noticed that the download helper sometimes misses a few dependencies here and there, so you have to download manually. Try opening the content manager, search for the F7 and right click on it, choose "View Dependencies" and see if anything is missing. That's assuming you're trying to get them into TRS2006 (which I don't have but I heard it has a content manager similar to the one I'm looking at for TRS2010), if you're trying to get them into 2004 you'll need that TrainzObjectz gizmo, I'll have to look up where I got that.

Alternative, go to

Download and install that GN F7, which should get you any missing dependencies.

I still got a lot to learn about this game, in the future before reskinning something I need to check that the model I'm painting has all the dependencies available on the download station AND in working order - all too often I fix some broken asset, then when I reskin something that depends on that asset it works on my computer but won't work on the end user's system unless they manually fix the same dependency.

But don't leave us hanging, in case somebody else has the same problem which version were you trying to install it to, and how did you fix it?

Says they're for Trainz SP3, but they were skinned in TRS2010 and should work with any version between. Like most of my other skins, lowest numbers have been in service longer so generally have more weathering than higher numbers.

Sorry about not telling what I did. I was installing into Trs. 4 and downloaded the one from Jointedrail and it works fine. I also have Trs.6, but haven't checked it out yet Again thanks.

It works in 06 as well after downloading the engine from Jointedrail.

Wow sniper, this is a surprise, I didn't expect to see PO&N engines in trainz any time soon. I wonder if Seaview and Full Bucket Line engines will pop up on the DLS tomorrow :hehe:.

Really nice reskins, no problems but I haven't downloaded your F units and switchers yet. Some screens of my own from the test runs, these guys look right at home.

Yeah, I had given up on Railworks and was making mods for Oblivion for the last few months. Then Phil sent me TRS2004 as a gift, then somebody else sent me TRS2010, so here I am. :cool: I like Trainz so far, the demo versions I tried years ago don't really do it justice. However, all the bad things I've heard about content management appear to be true, about 90% of the stuff I've downloaded so far requires at least some tinkering with broken or missing dependencies just so you can get it into the game and see what it runs like. I did find one steam switcher that works with the Raildriver console;

Only problem is to get to the point where I could place it in the game and test it took a week of off and on troubleshooting, and naturally I can't remember all that I had to do to make it work. Upload a reskin that works on MY computer and it won't work on the end user's system if it had a bunch of broken dependencies that had to be fixed. That's my next project, figure out how to test these things to see if the reskin will work out of the box or not for somebody else.
