Poor quality terrain smoothing

This may be covered elsewhere, But I can't find it.
My terrain has jagged points. I just can't get some terrain to smooth in an effort for it to look like natural terrain with humps, bumps, hills etc. Every thing has sharp points, almost like triangles.
These images only show a small percentage of the weirdness of the terrain.
I also have issues with Textures changing track heights (i.e. texture covering tracks)

It takes practice and patience. You're working with a 5m or 10m mesh. There is no perfect solution.

Until computers become capable of running Trainz in 0.1m mesh we all either have to live with it or come up with creative workarounds.

Look at your terrain in mesh view - it will quickly become obvious what the difference is between smooth bumps and pointy bumps. Basically, the highest (and lowest) points are in the wrong place.

In those situations with the peak, I use Topology > Plateau. ("P" shortcut key)
Ensure your radius "circle" is not over sized and sensitivity not too high, eg 3rd or 4th green dot. Less if the change of shape is too fast.
I also find, not too fast fine sweeping with the mouse gives a more controlled ground movement. Moving from below the peak and then up over across helps to lower, smooth and level. "Plateau" is my favourite tool of landscaping as it can manipulate shapes very well in conjunction with the Radius and Sensitive dials.

Just keep practicing and you will find your style. Over time it will become easier :)
