Please recommend some short routes (2009)

Hi, I'm looking for routes with the following criteria:
  • Must work in TRS2009
  • Minimal driving between stops (I have a two-year old with a short attention span who likes to watch but gets bored on long trips)
  • Lots of activity
  • Some good sessions to get a quick driver fix from
  • Good design to learn from as I work on my own routes
I already found Yard Switching Co 1a, and it's very close, but has a lot of "faulty dependencies" in 2009 (though the explore scenario seems to work). I'm still working through trying to get everything downloaded and see how far I can get with the faults in place or fix them.

I like the content in the Hawes Junction and Marias Pass routes, but the trips are too long, and my son keeps getting bored.

Thanks!

Try my "Elko and Lincoln TRS". No sessions. One base board. It is based on my Nscale garage layout. No dependency problems since it only uses TRS2004 built in stuff. Because of this it works flawlesly in TS2009 Compatibility mode. It is on the DLS. Try it and see.
Ignore any "missing dependencies".

Thanks for the suggestions! I got Yard Switching Co and its scenarios working fine by ignoring the faulty stuff and focusing on getting the missing dependencies.

Try this gem of a small layout. Prorail it's on the dls and also at TPR.
"Pro Rail TRS 2004" and "Progressive Rail"

They work in 2004 2006 2009

Bob:)

If you have problems with content used on a route, you can post about it since I think you're new from your post count and someone may assist with instructions on how to fix the items. Some fixes are quite easy.

Maybe my route can be of some use, if you're into narrow gauge. The White Falls RR, on my site, http://www.parrottrailroad.com. It's one baseboard, has a bit of stuff that can be done between the mines, logging camp, docks, and sawmill. Unfortunately, I don't have any sessions for it, but it's pretty basic. Just set the coal bins down at the bottom for gold and silver ore and set up the multiple industries for whatever you want. If you'd like, I can send you a basic session with industries set up already. It's also made in 2006 SP1, so you probably have to run in compatibility mode. Sorry. But it should work, as far as I know.

Okay, it is an 09 route, but because it uses trees, you will have to use compatibility mode. I made it in 09 compatibility mode and while I am sure that there are some things with "errors" everything shows up fine and works properly.

There are no sessions, but it is easy to set one up. The barge should be loaded with one engine, such as a GP9, one caboose, and your choice of log flats, regular flats, wood chip cars, and pulpwood cars. The order shouldn't matter. The industries should be set up to load chips at the silo, lumber at the mill, and unload logs at the mill. There are also 2 industry interactive freight depots, so feel free to mess around with a boxcar or two. The pulpwood shed after the tunnel is NOT industry interactive, since I couldn't find a product, or an adequate industry interactive car.

Running the session is fun and should take about an hour or more. First unload your cars from the barge and take them to the yard. Then get the cars in the proper order that you want. The caboose can either go on the end, or be used as a spacer car depending on your loadout. Once you have made up your consist, take the cars up the mountain to the sawmill and load/unload your cars. Run around the train and head back down the mountain. Using the car scale, you should weigh your chip cars before you load the consist onto the barge, making sure that it is balanced. Finally activate the transfer table and your train will head down the lake on the barge.
