Plans and Drawings

C/LTJG - Operations
As I mature and begin to fully grasp the workings of modern day technology, I am beginning to amass plans and drawings in order to assimilate into my collection for eventual usage as reference material for my future creations.

However, I am begining to find that I need more detailed plans in order to start creating content of great quality. Simply put I need to find drawings for American steam locomotives. I would prefer small locomotives such as 0-6-0, 4-4-0, 2-6-0, 4-6-0, 2-6-2, and 2-8-0 types. Any help would be appreciated.

By in no means necessary am I impling that any content hereby listed is to be created, I am merely asking for assistance in findind drawings for the above listed.

You can also search the index at http://www.index.mrmag.com/ for back issues of magazines that contain plans. Do a keyword search for 2-6-0, for example.
Many times, back issues are available from the magazine company itself, at train shows, ebay, or at various museums and libraries.

OK because now I have have the 1941 American Practice one and it's great for detail but has plans for bigger steam locomotives. Have not tried Rail Driver. I will check it out.

If you make some high quality American steam for Trainz I might have to kiss ya. :p I Have been waiting so long for someone to make some more good quality US Steam but it is hard to come by with so much UK steam.

I'm thinking about combining forces with bdaneal, sr6900, or klinger or a combination of all three.

And please tell me you 're female:hehe: .

I have to have my laughs.

Ill send him one of my best evening gowns, then you will feel better about it :p

I'm not exactly an expert of steam, most I have done is a Rotary snow plow that is still not finished, not to mention I know little about Gmax

OK. I'll just put on a smile and move to the other side of the room.

Anyway. Well before I jump ahead of myself I need to realize I need practice in reskinning. Hmm... maybe the ben's loco's will suffice.

The Model Railroader Locomotive Cyclopedia, volume I,has a lot of the diagrams you want, along with photographs. No 2-6-2s, as I recall, but they have some of everything else on your list.

Hundman Publishing also has a two-volume cyclopedia with similar drawings.

They both have lots of large steam, but you can find some of the smaller stuff as well.

Small is a normative term. As you know there are number of "glamor girls," famous and romantic locos that have been modeled beautifully, like the recent Niagara, but there seems to be a dearth of medium 2-8-2s and 2-10-2s, not the heavies, that were the workhorses on local freights and peddlers in and after the 1930s. Just encouraging you to consider these as well.

Anyhow, I look forward to seeing your work. Good luck and have fun.

Bernie

Absolutely. You can never have too many Mikados and Santa Fes.

Not to mention 2-8-0s, the roadswitchers of the steam era.
