Placing trains in Trainz12

Hello,
I'm new to Trainz12 and regard myself as being reasonably PC savvy. But for the life of me I just can't work out how to select and place a new train set in a location on an existing route. I've done the tutorials and know my way around the controls, camera views, re-setting points etc etc.

As a start I'd like to place a DMU at Doncaster station on the ECML.

I've read the pdf manual and some of the previous blogs on this issue but I'm still stumped. Apologies, I realise that "you guys" probably can't understand what I find hard about it but.... Can anyone help with some simple instructions, please ?

You want the wheel tab in Surveyor, which will allow you to pick vehicles. By default, clicking the track at that point will place the vehicle/train.
