Trainz Addict
Hi;
Does the number of track and road spline points affect performance?
Let's say I have a mile of track that has 100 spline points. Does reducing this number to 10 give me a performance boost when multiple trains are running alongside each other?
I have been seeing a stuttered movement of trains when there are two or more long trains moving past each other.
I have been experimenting with the track itself, and found that the JK track for example causes some performance hit compared to something a lot more simple such as 1 track wood.
Of course, I would rather have the nice looking track with a slight performance hit than that ugly old TS2004 track.
So, I am trying other ways to improve performance on my older single-core system.
I am eliminating a lot of roads, cutting out a lot of the spline points in track and road, and keeping clutter down.
I don't use any SpeedTreez, as I believe they cause big hits.
I am also wondering what I can do about the trains I run.
I like the more detailed cars and locos, but I am keeping train detail at normal anyway.
I also have to keep draw distance at or below 3KM.
If you have this kind of experience working with TS2010_SP2 on a slower (P4, 3.4G single core) system, I would like to hear from you.
Thanks
FW
