Pennsylvania 1940 (New route, large Pics)

jadebullet

might be back?
Hello, this is my second route, first one that i am actually taking my time with. It is set in 1940 Pennsylvania. Right now i am currently working on laying track from Orwigsburg to Pottsville. The route is going to be as realistic as possible when it comes to how the track looks but it isnt going to be prototypical when it comes to getting the track just perfect with the real track. (unfoutunatly the track has been torn up long ago so all i am going off of the paths in the woods that run on the old rail bed. If anyone knows where i can find any track maps of old rail lines it would be a big help. Here are teh screens. The screens that i have are from the station out to the first bridge.

BTW please tell me what you think. tips and constructive criticizm(sp?) is appriciated.

Beautiful, the layout seems very nice so far. I like railroads like this so it's already a must download for me already. :hehe:

Critisism? I can't think of any at the moment, but then again I've seen very little of this route so far.

Thank you. It will probably be a WHILE before its released. What you just saw was all i have gotten done so far. (just started it yesterday)

The tree placing was actually pretty easy to make it look like that. I just took some of the default trees, i think it was an oak with some western hemlocks thrown in. Then i made a square of them placed randomly and densly. Then it was just a matter of using copy and paste to cover the mountain. Also in order to get the closeness of the trees to the tracks i actually pasted the tree squares over the tracks then deleted the ones that were too close. More pics will be posted after i get some work on it done later. (have to write a report for college)

New mountain=new pics.

I just got another mountain built today (its hard work making realistic mountains lol.) so i decided to test the downhill by running a Erie loco with PRR coaches down to the Orwigsburg station. (i was actually worried about the train picking up too much speed on the two sections of 2% grade and the other grades but the train performed perfectly) Well here you go. BTW not all of these pics were taken in the same run or level of mountain completion.

As always please tell me what you think. Tips, critics and suggestion is encouraged and appriciated, as is praise.

first pic was taken before mountain was completed, the rest after.

I suggest Trunda trees, bushes & grasses

Nice job jadebullet.:Y: This route deserves better than default trees. I suggest you download trunda's trees, bushes and grasses. Search kuid 71619 or author trunda on the DLS.:p

ok i will thanks. It will have to wait till i get home because i am currently housesitting with my fiance and cant get CMP to download things because of her internet. (like i said before her internet doesnt like games.)

2 more shots, showing some of the progress that I've made.

The first shot shows my new Peach Basket crossings and the new traffic that fits the time period. Special thanks to BNSF50 for helping me get the crossings to work jsut right.

The second shot shows West Market st. heading out for the future site of RT 61. The field in between has yet to be filled with corn. It also shows the new mountain that i put in. (well at least part of it.)

Orwigsburg is finished.

OK, i took a break from the route and threw together a WWII scene for the Screenshot of the month. Now i have gotten back to work on the route. I finally got some nice buildings so i got to work on Orwigsburg. As you can see the station is on the outskirts of the town so the town isnt going to be very detailed or prototypical. I have to say that I dont think that im very good at making towns so any tips would be greatly appriciated.

Please let me know what you think of the town. BTW how do you make realistic intersections. Whenever i try to make one it either hovers over the other one, or doesnt splice perfectly. Also if i try to make a T it messes up the entire road. (it becomes horribly curved.) As of right now i have been forced to slide the road as close to the other one as possible but up close this doesnt look as good.

Anyway here are the shots. As you can see the tracks are quite far from the actual town. (this is how it is in real life.)
