Path Rule - Any train can unlock the path?

Davie_UCF

Here since 2001, Trainz!!
Am I right in thinking that with the path rule, any train can unlock the path?

I was ahead of an AI train on my route then realised the AI train got stuck at a junction because the points had reset and weren't locked anymore.. The only way this could have happened is if the path was unlocked.. which wasn't the AI train and had to be my train.

Is there no way of having it so the path can only be unlocked by the train that set the path? To me this seems the most sensible way if you're running multiple trains..

Maybe the pathrule could be updated? But I guess this is unlikely.

In the Path Rule config file the contact e-mail is listed as trainz@mutton.de , but this could be out of date.

Any train can release an active path seizure by tripping the specified release target. You could assert the Path Rule on the leading train that you drive to seize the path before traversing it - just add the appropriate driver command to the schedule while in Driver mode. Then, after you have seized the path, the following AI train can attempt to assert the Path Rule for the same section of track, and is forced to wait for your train to release the path before following on. If the path is very long and you want the AI Train to follow more closely behind, you could consider breaking the path into smaller sections.

Yup Thats the way it is suppose to work.

Try cutting down the lengths of your paths, I only have short paths covering a close set of juctions that it is only possible for one train to occupy before moveing on to the next trackmark and another path command. It will remove the problems you are having
