i hooked my game computer up to the internet to reinstall trainz2009 then it asked me to download a patch... what is it for and why does it take so long to download .... sorry for asking a stupid question

(a) It corrects a number of bugs in 09. (b) The service pack is a reasonable size and the download speed of your internet connect will determine how long it takes to download.
Check your current build number first, before you download any service pack/patch...

Trainz patches are normally to add or fix content, or to make it more stable/add features.

Remember, though, you will need to register your TS2009 with Auran/N3V Games before you will be able to download/install patches (this is an anti-piracy measure).
