Patch 38599

I just opened Trainz 2009 and went through the automatic upgrade with patch 38599. Now my copy of trainz will not start. I can access Content Manager but when I ask to Start the program I get to the picture window then the program quits. I tried restarting mu computer with no luck. Any suggestions?

I suppose you tried a db repair in cmp2?

I have done both a "Quick Database Repair" then an "Extended Database Repair". They did not solve the problem. I still can't open Trainz 2009 after running the 38599 patch. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Perhaps it is an advantage then, that my installation will not auto update! My computer (and my toaster, and in fact...all of my appliances) seem to think they are smarter than I. They may be right...:hehe:

To patch Trainz, press the third button from the left on your toaster.
To fix the toaster select 'Options' in the Launcher and see if you have a 'Patch Trainz' button, then make toast and coffee while you wait.

Thanks Andi, your advice actually worked! Or it may have been coincidence, but I found the patcher and...

Now why am I at 38285 instead of 38599?

Done, but I still can't get the fork out of the slot! That shouldn't hurt anything though, let me plug it in and

The patcher just doesn't work for me at all. Apparently on my machine, with the firewall turned off even, it can't find the patch file. I'm at version 38285. Can I run the downloadable patch 37625-38599 or will that be a disaster?

I'm thinking that would be a disaster. Are you manually trying to run the patcher from the options/configure/patch menu?

No that would be a disaster here are some links I found.

I also got this reply when I could not update.
If you install the 38316 patch and then start TS2009, it should automatically say there is a new patch.
If it doesn't then at the launcher select options. When the options screen appears there should be a button that says 'Patch Trainz'.
You should then allow it to update and then once updated go back to the options page and click on patch if available continue doing this until you are at build 38599

I tried both that ((options screen patch button) and also the patch screen when you open the trainz launcher. both the same result, searching for the patch and not finding it. I have Trainz on my p: drive. Would that be a problem? I also have 2004 installed, but on my d: drive. The preliminary download installs, but after I run the patcher, that's when it doesn't find the, i assume, online patch files.

Hi I dont think the fact that you have your 09 in a different location will cause the problem.
I have 04 06 TC3 on one drive and 09 on a different drive I did not have any problem getting the patches.
Its more likely to be a firewall or maybe you have a virus program that is stopping the connection.
I am running Zone alarm and I have to allow programs to connect in the program control.

I had turned my firewall off. This time I also turned my anti-virus off. Then I ran the 38285 to 38316 downloadable patcher and that worked fine. Once again, when I launch 2009 the screen asking me if I want to patch comes on, I say yes, the down load patcher runs fine, but when I try to run the patcher, it can't find the connection. I hope they do a downloadable patch for this one too.

Vacuum cleaner

Just dl 38599, all working well but heard a noise from the cupboard under the stairs, went to investigate and the vacuum cleaner had started up in reverse and emptied the dust bag all over the floor.
Her indoors is going loopy and demanding I remove TS2009 of my PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hehe:

Yeah, you have to open the options window, under advanced and turn off the "vacuum cleaner auto discharge".

Noticed that the auto patching didn't activate on starting Trainz.
Shutdown and restarted and the auto patching process came up and worked well. So if at first you don't succeed try at least once more.

Yep, same thing happened to me...I forgot exactly what the error was, but it said I was missing something and told me to start content manager and it will automatically correct any problems, it never does. I uninstalled 2009 and reinstalled and didn't do the update again.

Yeah, you have to open the options window, under advanced and turn off the "vacuum cleaner auto discharge".

I think that option is only available in the beta version. If you're trying to patch the release version from 38285 to 38316 to 38349 to 38599 you have to take the fork out of the toaster and jam it into the vacuum.
