Pantograph Trigger Thank You ElDavo

Getting Older :)
Hi everyone,

Some time ago I asked Eldavo if he could make a Trigger to raise and lower a Pantograph and he was able to. The main reason I asked was for the use on planes that have retractable wheels set up as a Pantograph. I and a couple of others have been using this Trigger for some time but due to the DLS problems is was not released until now.

It is visible in Surveyor but invisible in Driver and very easy to use. As I said I use it for planes so it has a little blue flag that you place the way the plane is flying on your invisible track and when the plane reaches it the wheels retract. Near landing you place it so the flag is facing the way the plane is coming and the wheels are then lowered. It is really neat and easy to use.

I see no reason why it can not be used for the same operation on trains as well.

The only thing is that it will not work in AI operation as this is a coding matter within Trainz itself and something that can not be overcome.

Many Thanks to Eldavo for this great little tool, his work, time and help is much appreciated.

Let's go easy on this one: Will it work on any plane? All the planes in my World are computer controlled. Using DC-3's, will they move the landing gear? Even in AI, electric locos when under AI rise the pantograph (albeit the wrong one!), so why not the landing gear in planes if it works under the same principle?

You are right that under AI control the Pantograph is raised, which is fine for trains. With planes that have wheels that are set as a Pantograph there wheels will also be raised in AI control.

However, if a plane has wheels that are set to raise and lower as a Pantograph then this trigger will do the work for you while you fly the plane. It should also work while you drive the train as well.

There are new planes coming out by Vulcan soon and most have wheels that are set as Pantographs and this is the reason for the trigger. Have a look at my thread here to see what is coming out;

For AI use, what's wrong with using the Pantograph State driver command? Seems simple enough to me. (I imagine it could also be used to set the initial pantograph state for vehicles which will actually be player controlled. Just make it the only command so it will execute and then vanish leaving the vehicle ready for Player control.)

If I was going to actually fly planes myself in Trainz, I'd rather have the landing gear under manual control. But that's just me, and I'd rather do my flying in FSX. :)
