Otto Mears and Colorado's San Juan Mountain Railroading

Fan of Otto Mears
It's taken me ten+ years, but I am finally creating a small Trainz Layout that I actually enjoy (and my OCD can live with -haha). I am basing my little railroad empire on the Silverton railroads of Otto Mears, The Pathfinder of the San Juans. And with much appreciation for the Jenn and Erik Model Trainz Layout created by PhilSkene, and the beautiful late 19th century locomotives and rolling stock created by Togog. And with a very liberal creative license.

Unfortunately, my loss of memory is proving to be a bit vexing, so I have ordered a copy of The Rainbow Route (which I read nearly half a century ago) and am waiting for it to be delivered. Then I will hopefully turn my layout into a more prototypical homage to Otto Mears.

Here, one of the Silverton, Gladstone & Northerly's locomotives is topping off the tender before a day of shunting loads from the Gold King Mine down to Silverton.
