Some pics of the most expensive railway built in north america. If you want to see or learn more do a search for Othello Tunnels on the KVR. I also walked the Myra Canyon for a few kilometers . This is where a very large firestorm took out 16 of the 18 trestles a few years ago. Do a search for the Kelowna Fire in BC and you will see how severe it was

I think it was the tunnels that were the really expensive part. That section of line was straight from a tunnel to a bridge, then back into a tunnel until they made it through that section.

and read on, there are links for all kinds of info. It really is a fantastic story. Cost was 5 times more per mile then any other railroad. I have actually rode on a passenger train through the Tunnels and myra canyon, and yes pulled by steam.

I plan on doing the KVR from Hope to the West Kootneys.

thats the plan,got to figure that one out as to how to use. If anyinterested,use google earth and do a search for Myra tunnels then zoom in and you can follow almost the entire route,its quite rugged
