Optimisation for TS12 with Windows 7

Clancy2012

Rail Rider
Hi all, I know many of you crave for good frame rates while running TS12 in Windows 7. I have tried lots of options, and the lack of ability in creating a gaming profile in Win7 is a bummer. I think I have found a solution that is giving me frame rates of 20+ in a mid range 5 year old Dell Dimension Desktop set up. I have a Nvidia graphics card, nothing special but have found using the following software and adjusting its settings to be beneficial. To use it I recommend first creating a Trainz user on your pc, and then download and install the following:

http://www.razerzone.com/gamebooster

It is a total step up from Iobits previous game booster, which I used, and with some adjustments it really gives a marked improvement. I can guide any of you in regards to the settings that you choose once installed. I have seen a 70% gain on resources available to TS12 and that is with 5 users set up on this desktop.

Feel free to drop me a line if I can help you.

Hi Clancy,

I downloaded and installed, but it requires you to create a razerzone account and the starter screen does not make this possible since the 'create account' button remains disabled. Otherwise I would have tried it.

Guys you are missing the point, this is a new program that Clancy reckons is better than iobits game booster. Worth looking at if you have a low end PC.

It's the same one, I think? I got the link from Iobit that had the name Razerzone on it.

Well I downloaded from the alternative links through Iobit but the opening screen still requires you to create a razer account but stlll does not enable the 'create account' button. Therefore cannot use the program.

Further to my last post, Googling it seems that many others have the same problem in creating a razer account to use the program. There is even a youtube video on how to get round the problem. The suggestion is to delete Rzcommon.dll and when the error message appears press the 'continue application' button. This bring up the normal GUI for the program which looks different from the old one, but I do not know yet if the background processes are different.

@clancy

Since Trainz was not automatically picked up by gamebooster and has to be added manually, did you add trainz.exe in the root folder (the Trainz launcher screen) or trainz.exe in the bin folder? Also it would help if you could post what other tweaking in the gamebooster setup you used to achieve the improvements you have mentioned.

Hi Malc,

Usefull information. I noticed it was a beta version and perhaps this is the reason why the 'create account' button does not work.

Folks what is the problem with creating an account??? You talk as if it is some alien idea! It is not asking you for money or a visa card number. You create a log in account for the software control panel - email address, password, nothing more. Perhaps your browser has a glitch with the button but works fine on chrome and IE.
It is based on game booster, but a big step up imo. All I can suggest is try it without all these work arounds nonsense.

Keep life simple lol!

@ Scottish, when you have it installed, from the link I pasted above, and you have created your account, then proceed to the configuration tab, the diagnose tab etc etc. work your way through each. You can drag the desktop icon of any program to the launcher panel, not just Trainz. When you launch Trainz from within it, your frame-rate will display on the top left hand corner of your screen.

Regarding the disabled button, you need to follow the instruction as given. When you register your email address, you are sent an email, with an activation link, follow the instructions given within.

I know about setting up accounts. You are missing the point. Gamebooster will not active the 'create account' button even after entering email and password details. Same result even if IE is set as default browser instead of Firefox. It may be because I am using XP SP3 and you are using Windows 7. The specs say it is OK on XP SP3.

Anyway, by using the workaround I can get it to run. We will see if my system shows any benefit.

@Scottish: did you receive the activation link in an email? I cant say what the fr will be in XP, that is why I said I was working with Win 7 and it is different. If I had XP I would set up a gaming profile which is way better than using addon software.

Anyone else got it working ok?

An update on Razor's booster. I have spent a week fiddling with this now and can get Frame rates between 45 and 60 depending on the route and that is with all sliders set to normal levels with draw distance at 2500. Anyone else making good headway with this program?

I've downloaded the tool, but cannot create an account through the tool. Any ideas why?

Shane

EDIT: Scrap that - I hadn't ticked a box. Also, be aware that passwords need to be at least 8 characters long, and the account must be verified via an email before it is logged in for the first time.
