Hi,,,,,,could someone help me with this please, I now find that when I run trainz 2006, then click on start it just stalls and does nothing and when I check files that are running it says (jet open gl not responding).
Have you any idea what I can do please.
Len

Thanks Shane,, did that and it told me my video driver is 31 month old.
I have looked everywhere and none thats newer than mine.
I am running acer 7520 and the video I have is nvidia geforce 7000m 610
the driver ver is 6.14.11.7948.
So I will just have to keep looking till I find it.
Thanks again
Len

Running in open gl mode for trainz can be a pest at times, if you still have no joy, try running it with direct x instead.

This may be rebuilding the data base, while it checks the data it will show as not responding but is in fact working. Suggest you give it a bit of time to see if this is the case.

Thinking about it, I had a similar problem recently.

The issue is normally caused by a corrupt database - you will need to delete assets.tdx and assets.bku from the Trainz install folder when Trainz is not running, and then allow Trainz to rebuild them (assets.bku is in the Cache subfolder) - this may take several minutes.

Thanks for that Shane I will do that. I had to go to acer for the driver, unfortunately the last geforce driver they have is indeed 2008 so there is nothing I can do unless I go over to directx instead of open gl.
Can you tell me please is there any difference between them.
Thanks
Len

There is not much difference, apart from that DirectX is a Microsoft creation, and OpenGL is a (mostly) universal standard.

Im sorry its my fault but I did not mention that Im running xp and what you directed me to is vista and win 7.
And I still have the problem of stalling , what I mean is I click on trainz icon to start and nothing happens, even after a couple of hours.
I was thinking of upgrading to 2010 but I would still have the same prob with the vga driver wouldnt I?. And I cant even use it as it is so I am very despondant.
Thanks anyway
Len

Sure did Shane I think Ive tried everything now, I know the driver is 30 months old but I just cannot understand why the prog freezes when I click on start.
All the best to you all
Len

No I havent Shane
What I do have is
-depthbits=24
-stencilbits=8
-fullscreen
-jet=bin
-cabinfov=65
-driverfov=55
-defaultAutoMip=none

And that all
thanks for your time

You need this one. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-275.33-whql-driver.html It's for XP-32bit. A 30 moth old driver is pretty old. This driver and a few tweaks and you should be good to go.

I'm still chugging along with 257.21 simply because I don't see anything in the latest that would be any use to me, what's in it for me with TS2010 and an 8500GT on XP?

At the original poster, you didn't mention your system specs - I have a Pentium D 2.8ghz, XP Media Edition, 2 gigs RAM, and an 8500GT. TS2010 runs like a drunken snail on my system, if you have similar CPU and RAM with that 7000 it would be worse, with lower RAM and CPU fuggedaboudit. TS2009 should work tho, got lower minimum specs than TS2010.

One item to check, in your Nvidia control panel;

Is the extension limit on or off? Have you tried running the game in DirectX to confirm the problem is actually OpenGL? Do you have any other OpenGL games you can test?

Also, if that fails, try Content Manager to make sure that nothing is open for edit.

Open for edit items can cause Trainz startup issues.

P.S. Me and stagecoach are two different users, reason I was checking that is because of that you replied to two posts in a short time.
