One Stubborn Consist

I would like to know if anyone can tell me why this is happening... I have a nice layout that I have been working on for several weeks. All my consists are A.I. controlled. There is a coal mine where four locos load. Every loco & consist waits at the signal until clear to proceed--- EXCEPT ONE. It is a two-engine BNSF Dash-9, thirty hoppers, and a Dash-9 pusher on the back. Every time, it will SPAD at the entrance signal... then proceed through the coal mine without loading... then back up and attach itself to the waiting Union Pacific consist (who is innocently waiting at the signal). I have tried every trick in the book to keep this loco from screwing up like this but nothing works. FRUSTRATING to say the least. Can anyone tell me why this one loco refuses to obey orders?

One possibility is it gets to close to the signal before the signal goes red and then due to the number of wagons is to heavy to stop in time. Is the signal red all the time when this consist approaches?

'Pushers' can be a problem - from time to time the AI may decide that the back is the front. I have this problem intermittently on the Clovis sub, out of the blue a train will stop and reverse because the shortest available route is from the loco at the back. A few strategically placed 'Drive via Trackmark' orders fixes it....
