So, recently there has been a number of age-old project threads being dug up from the dead. This is usually due to the member being fairly new and, needless to say, is curious about said project and wants to know where to get it. However, the method of bumping the thread for "updates" usually brings up false hope for other members who have the notion that the project has been revived and will be released soon - only to find that it was only somebody inquiring about the project because, as stated before, they weren't around when the project was active and want to know if it was ever finished or not. While some may argue that this is a good way to re-ignite the spark of interest in the creator, it usually ends in the annoyance and frustration of the other members.
However, I offer a simple suggestion for all of this. Possibly an addition to the CoC.
If a user wants to inquire about a project that is "x" amount of years old/ past page number "x," instead of bumping the thread and causing all of this ruckus, they should just PM the creator of the project as to whether they are still working on it. This is still a good way to re-ignite interest in the project, and if not, it still avoids creating a fuss about what is considered "vaporware."
This is just my 2 cents. Hopefully it will be taken into consideration.
Thanks,
