Oil Tanks

Trainz Luvr since 2004
Just wondering if anyone might be interested in creating any oil/gas tanks with concrete stands like pictured below. Most of what I'm finding is vertical vs horizontal.

Thanks in advance for any interest.

Reducing the size of your image would be helpfull, I have widescreen & can still only see less than 25% of your pic.

Thanks for the info. They are showing reduced on my end and taking up only about half the space in the forum.

Edit: I made some changes. Hopefully they are resized correctly now for the forum. I'm not sure why the were showing reduced on my end.

Much better, can now see something that would fit in very nicely on some of the industrial routes I run. :D

Here's hoping someone will make these.

I will - won't take long at all. Any idea as to size?

Ben

Thanks Ben,

I failed to take any measurements. I did have to duck a little to walk underneath the largest tanks and I stand 5'11". There were three different sizes scattered along this old Frisco line. I can't be picky... about the the exact size. What ever you see fit.

Here's a few more more pics. Hope they help.

These are included in the S&C pack if it helps. Although it may not be worth the purchase just for those ;)

Mike.

When I was growing up in the midwest, almost every town on the railroad had several of these tanks with a stairway and catwalk so the operator could use a dipstick to measure the contents. There was usually a corrigated sheetmetal shed to house the pumping equipment and a spot on the tracks for unoading a tank car.

'twould be a most worthwhile addition to the asset arsenal - almost worth getting the S&C just for 'em...

FWIW there is a pretty good horizontal tank (albeit lo-set) built-in in TS2010, but it is one of Rob Shaw's 'Industrial' assets which didn't get into 09. Might be on the DLS (probably with a bumped Trainzbuild!) Kuid:523:1361

The 2004 version will be on the TPR site then I run them thru 2010's CCP to convert them to 2009 versions which will be on the DLS. I've been doing this since Auran stopped accepting 2004 items.

Thank you Ben for continuing to support us “stone-agers” who still enjoy good old stress free TRS2004.

Thanks also to TPR for hosting all of this great stuff. A real lifeline!

Cheers

I talked to the TPR gents a while back about the idea of placing all my 2004 content there but I have so much it would have been an absolute nightmare figuring out how to do it. The only idea we came up with was to burn it to (many) data DVD's and mail to them. Downside is some poor gent at TPR would have to go thru and sort them as to category (TPR's are different then the DLS I think). As they are all normal working folks its just too much to ask. I'd still do it if we can come up with a method that doesn't involve so much effort on the TPR gents side. I have all my CDP's and 240 by 180 pixel images archived on 2 external hard drives (me heap big chicken, lol).

Should start uploading these tanks (I made 28 of them) in a hour or so.

These tanks are cool. I've seen them around all over the place up here in New England.

@Dricketts...

Is the old Frisco line still in operation? I know that BNSF has trimmed quite a few in the region. I was out that way recently and saw a lot of abandoned ROWs all over the place.

Not the part I'm building a route for. I've been working on a route called the Frisco Highline http://www.friscohighlinetrail.org/history.html set in the 50's. It ran from Kansas City, Mo to Springfield, Mo. My route will include Clinton, Mo to just south of Bolivar, Mo. It's about 80 miles. It will also include the MKT crossing in Clinton.

The BN still had operations between Springfield to Bolivar and Kansas City to Clinton until the early 90's. Shortly after the BN/SF merger the entire line was abandoned.

Eventually, lol. I have sent them in 2004 format to TPR but they tend to be a bit slow at getting stuff into the system. Remember - unlike the DLS gents, the TPR gents have lives other then with TPR so its a bit of a when-they-can process. Plus I upload so much they set me up with my own FTP folder (and I think Meridous tends to forget it now and then, lol). Currently I have over 80 items pending.
