Objects on 45Deg Angle or laid down

Is it possible to lye objects down i.e. Signs, Lamps etc and also is it possible to place object at 45 degrees. I want to create a Hill with cars parked on it but cant seem to get the cars to go 45degrees or any angle exempt straight.

Did you know that holding the Shift key while using the Rotate button in Surveyor will roll or tilt objects (if they have been configured for it)? To get slightly technical for a minute, whether or not an object will tilt/roll in the way you want depends on two things;

1) the direction the creator gave it in gmax or blender etc.

Vehicles made facing the negative-Y direction will travel forwards when used as road traffic in Trainz, so there is a tendency for cars etc. to be made like that. Unfortunately, it also means that the 'roll' command will only roll them from side to side, not tilt them up and downhill. Only if the car was made facing along the X axis would the roll command have the desired tilting effect (but such a vehicle would travel sideways along the roads). Some cars are made 'sideways' especially so they can be more useful as static scenery - dmdrake did some for his Indian DHR layout, and there are probably others.

2) the presence of a tag called 'rotate-yz-range' in the config.txt file of the object.

This enables the Roll command in Surveyor. Without it, you can't make the object tilt or roll, no matter what direction it faced when made. All you can do is spin it around in the horizontal plane.

If Trainz had a working 'rotate-xz-range' tag, then you could tilt/roll objects no matter how they were made, but sadly we don't have that. It means creators have to either make 2 of everything or (more commonly) make a choice as to what will be the most useful orientation for their objects.

p.s. A lot of my items have the 'roll' function enabled. Try my derelict things for example.
