Oakland to Dunsmuir and Eugene to Everett

Hey guys I've been playing with Surveyor for sometime now trying to create some simulation of parts (if not all at some point) of The Coast Starlight’s Route. After upgrading to 2010 a few weeks ago I went ahead and created a track layout for the Area from Oakland, Ca to Dunsmuir, CA and Eugene, OR to Everett, WA. This is just my approximation of the tracks mind you. No mountains no grade crossings a few rivers here and there but that's it.

Now, knowing my limits, I'd like some help to make these tracks layouts look nice. Scenery texture topography etc. Is anyone interested in working on this with me. If so please let me know. I really want to get the Sacramento Valley to look nice. Since this is my home railroad. Extra points if someone wants to extend things and add the Feather River Canyon to the mix. Please send me a pm or email nicnacjak@gmail.com. Thanks

I don't have time to get involved with your project, but may I make a suggestion?

Before you get too deeply involved, check out the terrains available for download on the DLS and over at http://www.gaurc.us/

Paul Haglund (Fishlipsatwork)'s great blank terrains are hosted there. I recall seeing the Everett and Eugene sections there.

These are TIGER maps on HOG-generated terrains. There are no textures other than the TIGER lines, which indicate the location of the tracks, rivers, and roads. It's up to you to do the finish work. The good thing is the landscape topology is already done.

That is a mighty big bite (byte?) to chew. Go for it if you would like but consider just Oakland to Martinez and the bridge. Maybe later Martinez to Rosevile.
Some one is currently building Sacramento to Oakland and maybe San Jose.
I am working on Stockton to Milpitas circa 1962. Another is doing a current version of Stockton to San Jose.
Here is a thought. get together with the Sacramento (maybe Roseville?) to San Jose guy and build north out of Roseville.

I don't mind putting my email address out there. Spam folders work well. I have seen some of the Hog and terrain maps on the DLS and may use those accordingly. I really want to focus on Chico to Marysville as it is nice and flat. good to know that there are others working on bits and pieces of the same route.

As I said before if anyone is interested in working with me please send a pm or email. So far in just laying out the basic track structure (not touching terrain or scenery) the hardest part has been getting the distances right
