I just wonder curious, do Nvidia are very wonderful in worlds? And Nvidia make very smooth in computer for game? So maybe you can tell me more what about Nvidia?

Also,

Maybe you can pick any Nvidia system for my computer. I have Compaq and "box" it HP

Yes, Nvidia is great. Since you are using a 6000 series I'd recommend you go with an 8000 series. I do not know what system you have so I will assume your motherboard has a PCI express slot on it. The best to go for would be an 8800 GT, but if you want as much power as possible, go for something along the lines of an 8800 Ultra.

I can also recommend you wait for Nvidia to release their 9000 series, but it will likely be overpriced upon initial release. ;)

Eh, maybe I should using a 8000 GT better?So I guess we should have buy the Nvidia 800 GT And maybe where I can find my system in my computer:confused:?

Plus, do the Best Buy have Nvidia 8000 GT too?
 
Double check the size of the power supply, look up the model number on HP's web site, if its less than 400 watts it will need upgrading.

Slightly more complicated than switching a video card but not impossible.

Yes, before you even bother getting an 8800GT make sure your power supply can handle it. One good way to tell is if it has a PCI-E power connector on it. Just (carefully) open your case and look for a connector like this (again, carefully).

If you do not see something like this it is likely the PSU cannot handle an 8800 monster. But you never know really!

Btw, what is your HP computer model? The model number should be on the front of the computer. :)

If you mean make a backup copy, no all this involves is installing a graphics card, nothing to do with the hard disks.

Here we go again, the 8800GT will not match a 8800 Ultra (or an 8800GTX for that matter) in performance, though it will give a 8800GTS a run for its money in performance.

Also, the 8800GT is PCI Express 2.0 but it will run in a PCI Express slot with a big hit on performance, make sure that the motherboard has a PCI Express 2.0 slot to get the best from the 8800GT card.

Interesting statement, Tomshardware.com I think has some comparative benchmarks and on those it depends on the benchmark. The 8800 GTX is two years old now. The nice thing about the 8800GT is it is built using 65 nm chips so runs cooler and doesn't require as much power.

I don't think we know enough about what is required to run Trainz yet, I can make some guesses but that's about it. I personally think that the video cards are maturing now so it's no longer necessary to purchase the fastest card on the planet. The 8800GT or the new top of the line ATI cards should be fine and at least they are cheaper and available.

Even though the 8800GT has slightly higher core clock and the same memory clock frequencies as the 8800GTX, its memory interface is lower, at 256-bit which gives it a memory transfer speed of 57.5GB/s. Whereas the 8800GTX has a 384-bit memory interface which gives it a memory transfer rate of 86.4GB/s.

The 8800 Ultra, core clock and memory clock frequencies are higher then the 8800GT plus a 384-bit memory interface gives this a memory transfer rate of around 103.6GB/s, near double that of the 8800GT.

As I said above, the 8800GT will give the 8800GTS a run for its money in performance, the only thing that the 8800GTS has is slightly higher memory interface at 320-bit, this gives it slightly higher memory transfer then that of the 8800GT at 64GB/s.

I'm not sure how I can put this.......... The ULTRA is a WASTE of money (blunt but accurate). The reason being, guess what you get? A factory overclocked 8800 GTX 768MB. That's all? REALLY? Yup that's all you get for nearly $200 USD more you get a factory overclocked GTX. And the kicker! Wait there's MORE?! Yup, BFG, PNY, EVGA, Zotec, and XFX all have overclocked GTX's for less money. Can youa beat that ehhehheh

ATI also just released their HD3870 and HD 3850 video cards, from reviews they give the 8800 GT a run for it's money and all for $180-220 USD
If you plan on sticking with nVidia the 8800 GT or 8800 GTS 640MB are the best bang for the buck. The GTX definately has a lot more power than the GTS or GT but also costs around $500 USD

Yes it does but the memory interface only affects things if it's a bottle neck. If you look at the benchmarks the GT actually is faster than the GTX for some benchmarks. It all depends what you are doing and also if the instruction sets are exactly the same. Hence the comment, also Trainz uses different components of the video card according to what is going on, Do the scenery have lots of textures or is it desert? Lots of textures means more junk running through the memory bandwidth bit, more movement with less textures means the restricted bandwidth will not have such a big impact.

I agree with your statement in general but it is rather sweeping and may not apply to Trainz. The 256 bit reduced memory interface should have a major impact but on some benchmarks it seems irrelevant.

Seriously, I have a 8800GTS 320MB with all sliders at max and have no slowdown at all either, TC runs smooth.


Also, I personally think that it would not be a very good company decision to have a video card on the market for near $1,000 (AU) retail then have another card that will out perform it at half the cost.

The 8800GT was the "first in line" to use PCI Express 2.0, over the coming months, you should find that more cards will be released that are faster then the 8800GT as what we have seen in the past.
