NS GP59 #4610 get's Operation Lifesaver Paint Scheme...

:cool: I got 3-GP60's and a green GP59 5 or 6 years ago from VMD. I wanted a black GP59 in OLS, but the numbers 4610 would not go away so I shelved it until tonight.

The GP 60's were a plain version, a horsehead version and a OLS version, so I swapped the body map to make this one...it is not prototypical, but there were ten painted like this. #4610 was originally black with regular font-styling.

I have had the Athearn model & also bought a Christmas present train set for a friend & painted the handrails & did the numberboards, etc. The Athearn model uses their GP60 carbody.

That's the trouble a lot of the time but i think the main thing is if your happy using it and enjoy practicing then that's all that matter's in the end. Keep the skin's coming Allen it's great too see your Birthday pressie getting a good work out..lol.

:cool: Nah mate, this is a matter of swapping files on this one. I like to do that with models made by the same company.

However, I may slap a RRMods NS cab in the bugger!

If got the weathering part with the Paintshop understood, so all's well in that department.

It's beginning to storm outside so I gotta shut'er down for the night.
 
I'm kinda sad and annoyed about 4610 being repainted, but I have to say, the paint does look nice on her. Think about it, 4610 I think is like the new version of what NS BP4 999 was, a Conrail OLS loco (I think it was)

A kind of thread...

:cool: Actually it was just to feature the NS GP59...it is a 3000-hp road-switcher that only NS bought, featuring a Series 12V710 prime mover.

The green version was famous, originally repainted in 1994 to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the United Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen. It was built in 1989.

Along with the GP60 and Dash 840B and NS Dash 832B are the last of the 4-axle production in the US-America.
