I want to contact Norfolk Southern about an idea I have for one of their trains but I don't know who I'm supposed to contact. The options I have are the Assistant VP Corporate Communications or one of the Director Public Relations. Who am I supposed to contact? Any help would be appreciated.

My Mother has terminal matastisized Breast Cancer. It has spread to her Bones and Organs...I would love to see something like this materialize, so please do Cancer survivors and fighters their due respect, and have a complete plan in place before pitching your idea.

By that I mean, contact some other associated parties, and inquire about their willingness to pledge some funds towards the project, to help offset the cost to NS of repainting a Locomotive. It will be a tough endeavor, unless you have some connections with a Cancer organisation, but if you gather the right group of participants, I think the idea, though probably already considered at some point, has a good chance of serious consideration.

You will need to show that there is a benefit to several parties to make it happen...some sort of fund raising campaign maybe?

Don't let it scare you. Maybe contact NS first, and put your idea out there as a request for assistance, rather than a "pitch" to them.
-Ask questions, instead of make suggestions.

As much as I dislike them (personal reasons), the Susan G. Komen foundation might be able to assist you also.

At first, I thought this was a kiddie asking NS for more special units just for their own pleasure...
But after reading and finding out what you really wanted, rock on man. I'll even back you up on this idea. They have a veteran's unit, let's see a pink/purple support unit to kick cancer in the rear-end plow.

No they don't, for about a three days, NS 5303 had what we are pretty sure was just one of the magnetic breast cancer awareness logos stuck on the long hood. Nothing official just some crew guys in Reading with an idea.

First, remove Mr. Chapman's EMAIL address anfd phone number from your post!

Second, this is what I meant by get your "stuff" together BEFORE you make contact.

I know what you're trying to get done, but even I would shake my head and laugh at someone wanting a "Cancer Train"...that just sounds like some kind of horrible B horror movie... (face-palm).

Please educate yourself some, on the "lingo" used in association with treating and finding a cure for Cancer, ...
--For starters, I would have called it a "locomotive with a Cancer Awareness Paint scheme".

I don't want to make any assumptions about you, I don't know you...but you're comming across as "a kid that wants a pink train"...that ain't gonna happen...focus on the Cancer Awareness, and actually find a reason why NS would WANT to help promote Cancer Awareness....

Otherwise, just send the guy an apology for wasting his time.

But yes, KingConrail has some good points... Maybe even give an idea for the locomotive type (ES44AC or SD70ACe) and paint scheme? And if NS is so big on PR stuff they have a reason to do it already, not to mention the number of employee's that work there with relatives/family that have (Breast) Cancer.
