NOTE: YOU HAVE UPDATES...!

ROAD FOREMAN of ENGINES
 Trainzers, in TS2009 & TS2010, the updates that have been uploaded to the Download Station are showing up on the menu page of both simulations.

These updates are mandatory for default content supplied with the game, but also all DLS content on your version.

These updates are uploaded daily at this time to the DLS & you will see this. So check your game(s) daily to download & apply said updates.

TS2010 has taken an update that makes this automatic.

Do the updates!

I'm not sure which version of TS2009 you are running, but TS2009 SP4 (the version I am running) does not have a content updates option on the Trainz main menu.

The only way of doing it in TS2009 is by using Content Manager and using the following search:

Location: Local
Out Of Date: True

Once the results appear, select them all and choose View Asset Versions, then View in Main List (thankyou to the person who originally posted this - I think it was pw3r)

Once the list appears, select them all, right-click the list, and click Download.

Thanks shaneturner12

Hi
I have just spent 85 minutes updating from the main menu 158 assets one at a time. I have tried various filter combos in CM3 without success until I saw your post. I can now resume watching paint dry when I want to test my bordom threshold. :D

I haven't like to complain about this chore before because I am very grateful to the content creators for their time and skill in keeping their content up to date. Thanks to them as well.
Cheers
Martin

P.S. This advice could merit becoming a "Sticky".

I got best part way there before, it was the view asset versions and view in main list that had me. Thanks again.

It's OK - that part of the process came from elsewhere (of which I will give credit to the original author for that part of the instructions)

Shane

EDIT: Sometimes, it is possible to simply right-click the assets that need updating and click Download, but some do need the View Asset Versions treatment.

Not if your using CM, but it will be an ar-e of a job sifting through the updates 1 by 1.
Well you could but you'd have to do them by dragging them over individually. I'd done some of the lo poly houses and noticed they went through the mangle today.

Beautiful, wonderful, just what I needed to know..!

 Thanks for your advice Shane, you may be right.

I installed TS2009, then installed TS2010 as an integrated part...

I can see updates available in both games.

I did an install on TS2010 as a separate game because of the MMORPG beta, side-by-side with TS2009 on my hard drive, so I have the best of both worlds...all my routes will be made on 'o9, then transferred selectively to '1o.

I just noticed that no announcement was made to this effect & downloading updates each day will be better than discovering 10,000 updates are available...

I also had trouble with CMP not recognizing the obsolete content when all were selected then dragged & dropped to Download Helper.

Here are the new updates to CM...The new build gives an enhanced update function...

But two were not identified, one just did not update...

That would make sense - I do not have TS2010 installed (either as an addon, or as a standalone)

I think I prefer TS2009 based on some of the comments on these forums regarding the layers feature.

Shane

I just checked and downloaded the content updates via CM half an hour ago. Upon seeing backyards screen shot with download all on I thought i'll go back and check that one.
Instead of the usual no updates I get you need an internet connection to access planet auran and check username and password are entered correctly.
Oh how to make life easy is not what I think.
If I can use CM what's the problem I wonder.

Two, for different purposes...?

 It occurred to me, that though my TS2009 install with TS2010 integrated was the bomb, but the new TS2010 install gives me new insight...the program without the tons of content it don't need...

I so recommend installing TS2009 on your hard drive, like C:\TS2009, C:\TS2010. The installation is different from the default, but it eliminates advanced Windows security functions...go figure...

And it goes with the game, World Builders Edition, vs Engineer Edition.

Both games have Surveyor, etc, however...

Backyard....I am running TS2010 v44088 and the above image of CM is different than the one I have (V3.3). I do not have the option to "Download All". Is this CM from TRS2009? Can I obtain it somehow since I have 668 content updates to deal with. Where they all came from I do not know since I have been in Maine for the past month. Is this a update that I can download????

Thanks,

Harold

Have a look at the 2nd post, this will tell you how to do it via CM. I managed it this morning to my surprise.

Thanks Fran1. I actually did it. lol I completely misunderstood the 2nd post the first time I read it. Many thanks,

Hi Martin,

Set up a filter that is like this in CMP:

Location: local

and

Out of Date

I then saved this custom filter, which made its own tab on the bar. I called this OTD Local (Out of Date Local).

I did this and anything I had installed that was older than the updated content on the DLS showed up. I then updated my content as needed.

Hope this helps.
