Norfolk track - Balast ?

Hi..

I was wondering if any of you have used `Norfolk track` ? and if you have then which balast did you use ?

I am in the process of building a route using this track, set mostly in a rural / country setting (UK), but cannot think of which balast to use (there are so many !)

I posted a reply yesterday but it seems to have vanished into thin air!

I use Norfolk track (as I live there and am building a local route) but as the track includes ballast, I'm not quite sure what you are looking for.

Norfolk track is an asset. He wants to know what ballast texture would best match it's modeled spine ballast.

Two possibilities:

1) Ask the creator of Norfolk track if he/she would be willing to publish the ballast as a ground texture - or send it to you.

2) Look in the folder for the texture file which includes the ballast and sleeper texture, and for your own use only copy the ballast part and repeatedly paste it into a 128 x 128 bitmap file until it is filled, then copy parts of it with the irregular selection tool and move them around to break up any regular pattern. But be sure to seek the creator's permission if you then wish to publish - and be prepared for disappointment as the way ground textures are handled makes them look much coarser and probably a different colour. I know - I tried to do this with one of my own textures in response to a request and the result was nowhere near the same.
