Now Text selected..:'(

Can somebody explain whats going on and how to fix it? I hope I didn't just spend my $30 on something that dosen't work.

Thank you.

This is Trainz 2009 Builder's Edition (I just noticed there was a help forum for this, sorry this thread is the wrong place).

Here are my computer specs:

Did not try re-installing yet

Did your 09 get killed or something? It's something about your username that reminds me of someone over at another forum though...:o

Yes, Ice, I know you. :P

I'm gonna try to re-install it. I still have the set-up on my desktop.

I can use my serial code twice, right? Need to use it again so I can run the new Trainz I'm about to install, which I'm really just about to un-install :P Confusing, yes.

Yes, you can use the serial number again to re-install the game, just not register it again in another Planet Auran profile.

I have seen this issue before with TRS2004 and TRS2006 and i think the issue was a font missing from the windows installation.

What operating system do you have?

Check your C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder,
though I cant recall the font that is used.:(

I have Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition :)

That's odd...is it the digital download by any chance? I also got that, with no problem. Could be your PC. What are your computer specs? TRS2009 needs the following:

Processor: Pentium IV 2.2GHz (or equivalent)
RAM: 1GB
Video card: 64MB 3D Graphics Card (NVIDIA GeForce2 or equivalent)
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 2
1024x768 display resolution

I seem to recall having a similar problem running games on Vista. the only solution I could come up with is to activate the root-user account and play them there. maybe doing the same in XP will fix it.

on a side note; I'm curious as to why your sys properties say you are runing XP yet you have vista display (buttons, etc)

Well, Apparently you meet up with them. Try reinstalling it. That's the best choice at the time.

Before I re-install it, I'm wondering what font is used? Maybe my computer (fonts folder, actually) doesn't have it. It's A LOT faster to find the font on the internet, download it and install it then to re-install trainz.

EDIT: @PerRock: I have a Vista Theme installed on my computer to make Windows XP to looks like Vista. :) How could I active the root-user account?

unless its one that is custom built for TS09.

@PerRock: I have a Vista Theme installed on my computer to make Windows XP to looks like Vista

Why not remove the Vista Theme and see if that fixes the problem? That seems to be the most likely culprit.

Didn't work. :( Switched it back to the Win XP Theme..

Do you want me to really remove it, like taking the theme files out of
'C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes' folder?

EDIT: I just hatched an idea. Maybe I should Un-Install trains and re-install it while the windows XP theme is applied? I installed it while the Vista theme was applied.

ANOTHER Edit: I'm installing Trainz Again. But this time it's installing when the Windows XP theme is on and not the vista. I'll get back to you guys. :D

Did you switch back in Display? If it was the theme at fault that should have made a difference, did it look like XP should look? There should be no need to delete the Vista theme.

I can't see that Auran would use a non-Windows font.

Do you mean in 'Appearance'? If yes, then yes. XP is fine.
Sorry if I misunderstood you there; your post there sort of confused me.

As I post this I am in the final process of installing Trainz, with the Windows XP theme applied.

EDIT: finished the installation. It didn't work. The Text still does not appear. Anymore ideas? I am going to contact Help Desk

Remove the theme totally via Control panel/add remove programs. These fancy add-ons are only interested in themselves. They don't consider what effect they may have on other software and your Trs2009 might well be the loser. Also, these themes suck up valuable memory you should make available for Trainz.

Also install and run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ Do the clean part first, then do the registry analyse/Fix three times (3). Make sure you rename each backup differently or the first and second will be overwritten. If you get no errrors after the second attempt, don't bother with the third.

Try running Trainz again. If no luck, uninstall Trainz, run CCleaner again then reinstall.

I'm suggesting that the registry is the problem because other people aren't having the same issues. To me, that implies that the problem is with windows, not TRS2009 itself.

Good luck.
