No more TRS2004 content?

I just paid for a 1 yr 1st class ticket and am noticing that there hasn't been any new content since the beginning of October. Is there not going to be any new content for 2004 uploaded anymore?

No more 04/06 uploaded assets are being accepted at Auran ... uploads are only at 3rd party sites ... 04/06 is now unsupported ... and all 04/06 users need a FCT in order to dowload.

04/06 are still great, and will continue to work (hopefully) for quite some years to come.

There are alot of people still using 04/06 ... me being one of them ... if you need advice, let me know.

I am still creating a TRS2006 route of the Horseshoe Curve ... but I will have to upload it to a 3rd party site.

TS 09/10 users will be able to use my 06 route in compatablity mode.

I've been such a fan of 04 because of the simplicity and how nicely it runs on my macbook. 06 and 2010 seems to be sluggish. It's sad to see it end :( Now im seeing they have 2010 for the iPad but still not for a mac...boooooooo

Like I said ... if you have a FCT you can still download 04/06 assets.

Even though they are unsupported ... 04/06 still works and functions great ... you just can't upload assets to he DLS.

Some 2004 creators are using Trainz Pro Routes for UK buildings - 43 so far. You need to register, but registration is free.

Well
no more content and no more support for trs 2004/6
It alright for those who can afford the newer versions and as for say will work for years to come, I don't think so
very disappointed

@ spiderwheels65

Why don’t you think 2004/06 will work for years to come? My “support” over the last two years has all come from this fine Forum – and long may this continue. I find, for the most part, everone helps everyone else, regardless of version.

@ everyone

I’m a great believer in purchasing an FCT. (Well, second best choice since the “free” option was withdrawn!)

But, and it’s a big but, unless you have an FCT you cannot now see what is in the DLS. Prior to the recent changes you could, although you were blocked from downloading if you only had a 2004/06 registered version.

I currently don’t have an FCT, preferring the 3 month option as I’m a mainly “winter only” Trainzer.

Why have Auran pulled the window shutters down?

Where is the incentive to buy an FCT if you don’t know what is there?

My daily DLS visits are now pointless. I can still log in, but cannot review any assets. This, in turn reduces the encouragement to buy an FCT, and increases the drive to look elsewhere. And there's plenty out there!

Whoever makes these decisions must be running out of feet to shoot into!

Cheers

Well said

Well said Ray, and all the assets there are free as well, so yet another bonus.
Admittedly I haven't uploaded anything for a few weeks but I am working on 2 new assets, a large Civic Centre and a small Georgean house, and there will be more but of a different type once I have completed my move to Wales possibly in about a month's time.
You need to register both on the forum and download depot seperately using the link sent you you, it's easy-peasy.

So 2004 still has support, it's just not with Auran.

I too am frustrated by the developments in regard to the DLS.

I wouldn't mind paying for an FCT to download 2004 assets, but as has already been mentioned, there are no new ones uploaded, so there's no incentive!. If I was told I had to buy an FCT to access the DLS AND 2004 content was still allowed, then I would purchase one tomorrrow!

As has been mentioned though, TPR is well worth a look and the UK content will hopefully increase. These changes have made the search a bit like a Treasure Hunt:hehe: (there are gems out there to be found!).

Ps to Angelah - Which part of Wales are you moving to, and "Croeso" to you for when you do:)

Hello Chris,
Tondu, near Bridgend. Thanks for the welcome. All the Welsh folk I have met so far have been great, cannot fault them, and the patrons of the Llynfi Arms (the pub I put on the TPR site) have also welcomed me. That's will be my 'local', so very near there.

However, I don't speak much Welsh.... but have no reason to object if the locals want to, it's their language after all. Looking forward to it now and want to start up a new aquarium as well, so have been to the Bridgend Aquatics Centre (actually Maidnehead Aquatics). That will give me something else to do and get me off the PC a bit more.

So hopefully when the summer comes I will be able to produce some Welsh assets for you all.

Blessings,

Angela

True ... But here are enough boxcars on the DLS to make a 100 mile long train for use in 04/06 ... and I have downloaded just about all of them.

Now if I put all of my 786 locomotives (that are also still on the DLS) I might have enough pulling power to pull all those boxcars (on a straight level track, or downhill, even).:hehe:

I'm probably not far behind that figure myself - You can never have too many!!:D.

It's just a shame there will no more new stuff though, because as I said, I would gladly pay for the FCT.

Never mind, theres more important things to worry about in life like family, health and employment.

Cheers

It's called Pick and switch I think.

It's illegal here in Canada.

If it had been done within 1 year of the product going on sale, perhaps, but even then online services are rarely considered a guarantee - people have tried suing EA for turning off the multiplayer servers for Fifa and NFL (when you buy Fifa 11, it only gives you multiplayer for 18-24 months, then they switch the servers off to force you to upgrade).

Such cases have never gotten anywhere - partially because warranty laws that cover such guarantees expire at 1 year in most countries, and 2 in the most extreme cases, and also partially because online services are not considered a guaranteed part of the product, even if it's advertised on the box.
