No download at all

Since I reinstalled 2010 2 days ago, I haven't been able to download nothing. BTW 2012 isn't downloading nothing either. As It starts in download helper, item becomes red, and nothing goes.
I performed a network diagnostic with the following errors (all other steps are good):
Error: Download should have failed but did not.
Error: Test 'host failure' failed.
Error: Download failed - error 8.
Error: Test 'ftp dls' failed.
Error: Download failed - error 8.
Error: Test 'ftp firstclass' failed.
Message: Diagnostic complete.

Question: so far I still didn't purchase First class ticket: I'll do it tomorrow. Will FCT solve the problem, or something else is bad and the ticket will be of no avail?

It looks like your system is having trouble talking to the Auran/N3V servers - mine is working properly.

Does any particular text appear if you hover over the item(s) that are going red?

I would look into getting a solution to this problem before getting a FCT, as you will be no better off with one in your situation.

After a re install use CM and open the file option, go to internet and fill in your username and password.
Next launch trainz and select options. Open the general tab, put in your serial number of your 2010. If you struggle, go to planet auran and view your tickets, copy the 2010 number and paste it into the general tab.
Until you can download without a FCT buying one will not help.

Gentlemen

All looks perfect in settings (CM), with username , password and user ID in place. Also game key was registered in options inside the game. What happens when I try to download, is a red bar under content manager saying "unable to download ....Couldn't obtain URL. Item could not be found in Download Station". If I hover the asset painted in red in download helper, shows the message "unknown content error".
It's important to say that I'm communicating with DS all the time. All assets in DS show in my Content Manager, with full and fast asset details.

let's see... kuid 44087:10018 polish PKP BHP 488-3 hovering over red shows "Unknown Content Error" and CM version is 3.2 in case of Trainz 2010.
For Trainz 2012 version is 3.6 , asset is Kiha Japan route kuid 438196:100026 and red message is the very same "Unknown Content Error".
Now I have already FCT for 6 months, showing active in CM settings (with 179 days left) and this is Network diagnostics:

Sorted, my CM 3.3 does not show any kuids listed under author ID #44087, but if you do a keyword search for PKP and scroll down you will find your asset, it has been updated to kuid 2:44087:10018:1.
CM 3.6 finds the route ok, again author ID #438196, under that category= routes, apply. There are only 2 both build 3.3.

Why is your CM version 3.2 for 2010, at build 44088 it should be 3.3.

Looking at the test result there's nothing wrong with your internet connection but wait for Shane to confirm. The reason you can't download into 2010 is because you've not patched to build 44088 at least.
Your trying to download assets with a build number higher than your CM. It won't do that

Use this link or 1 off Shanes site. If you want multi player you'll have to patch again.
Lets see if we can get 2010 CM to download first.
Have you got planet auran as one of your trusted sites in your internet settings.
The authors Id was #44087 by the way.

Looking at the results, it looks like the roundtrip time is quite long, so there is the chance of timeouts. It may be due to distance, or it may be due to possible connection issues.

Well Fran1 that could be a good explanation for not downloading from Trainz 2010 (I couldn't patch at all) but what about TRZ 2012 build 49922 with CM 3.6? It doesn't download any either. They allways say "Unknown error content" when hovering mouse over the red band covering files in download helper.

I have no problems downloading from any site regarding any program. I've taken routes from russian and poland sites (my craze), and also from flightsim sites (my other craze). I have a 1gb dls connection and a fairly good machine (AMD Phenom II x4 955- 8gb ram). I see something very weird: assets ALLWAYS show with Unknown content error or URL not found when I try to download. This is dragging me crazy...

Download the patch to desktop, then run it from there. That way if it fails to come complete it won't mess your 2010 install up.

2012 has nothing obviously wrong, try the DLS for the route and see what the result is. If the download fails that way then it is your internet connection.

Have you done an EDR on either 10 or 12. I noticed after a re install that a lot of content had ? before them until
I did an EDR.

OK - that may indicate a possible server issue between your system and N3V's servers.

Can I check which operating system you have? There is another diagnostic tool available in Windows XP and later that may help find the issue. Note that it is a command-line tool, but I can advise on how to run it.
