Hi everyone I am new to trainz and this site. I have 2009 and 10 engineer editions. So been trying to download through the content manager and everyone I do download there is always something wrong and it is messing up original installed items I think at this point going to have to re install just get back to normal. Am I just getting bad files and is there a way that the downloads won't mess with other trains or cars? Thanks

TS2010 should be a little more stable than TS2009. Probably most content has been cleaned up on the DLS but may have been cleaned up to TS12 standard. What happens is most content was probably built for an earlier version and had less error checking, so often content built for TRS2004 or TRS2006 has errors in it when run in TS2009 / 10. There is the DLS clean up effort going on but that is for the most part cleaning things up to TS12 standard and giving it a TS12 version number so its not available for TS2009/10.

I seem to recall TS12 download is $25 this week, http://www.simulatorcentral.com/index.php/trainz/all-trainz/trainz-simulator-12-gold.html so you may wish to think about indulging or have a dig in the forums and see how to correct the errors yourself, I suggest going to TS12.

What I've found is that a lot of original Auran -1 kuid assets have been re-numbered -25 and now obsolete the -1. These are now on the DLS and a pain to find and get rid of leaving the built-in versions in play.
BTW. I find 2009 SP3 better than SP4 and 2010.

If by 'messing up' it means that the installed items are getting obsoleted by the download, just delete the download. This often happens if you download a route and then download its dependencies. The latest version is downloaded regardless of what the route actually specifies. Deleting the download brings the original back to life, and the route is OK.

If the error refers to missing texture.txt files then you should install a copy of PEV's Images2TGA and run it over those assets. That is a common problem with assets that have a build less than 2.9 but which otherwise work perfectly in 2009.http://trainz.shaneturner.co.uk/tutorials/index.php/home/utilities/pevsoft-trainz-tools/images2tga
